Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people argue that it is highly common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they grow older, whilst others think that individuals don’t change their habits and opinions with their age. In my opinion, I believe that people tend to change their habits and mindset as they grow older.
The major reason is that our personal and professional life will not stay as the same throughout our life time. From children to senior citizens our life styles and the social environment we are living in will shift. As an example, academic studies proved that, most of the primary school students have a highly imaginative opinions about their future ambitions. They also quickly learn new habits in that early stage of life. But, as they grow older, they tend to have different future goals and ideas than what they had earlier.
Education and maturity will also have a huge impact to change people’s habits and opinions with the age. For instance, if we interview a random teenage student and a working proffessional, we can easily identify their thinking pattern and the habits are shaped by the education background, family background and the personal and proffessional priorities. Hence, it is important to note our mindset and habits have a huge tendency to change with the aging maturity. It is important to note that, even our sleeping and eating habits will also change with our priorities in life. Another example is, a teenager may love to play video games late at night, however, a working proffessional may want to have an uninterrupted sleep early at night.
In conclusion, it is a highly common situation for people in any part of the world to change both their habits and ideas with the aging maturity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing that habits and opinions change with age. The writer supports this stance with relevant ideas, such as changing life priorities, educational influences, and the contrast between children and adults. For instance, the comparison between primary school students' imaginative future goals and the structured priorities of a working professional effectively extends the argument. However, some ideas feel slightly repetitive, and the development could be pushed further with more specific personal or societal examples to reach the higher bands. Overall, the task is successfully and clearly fulfilled.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is generally coherent and exhibits a logical overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, ensuring each section has a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the arguments, such as 'The major reason', 'For instance', and 'Hence'. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes a bit mechanical or repetitive, as seen with the frequent use of 'It is important to note that'. Despite these minor flaws, the flow of ideas remains clear and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'imaginative opinions', 'social environment', and 'aging maturity'. However, there are notable spelling errors and awkward word choices, such as 'proffessional' (repeatedly misspelled) and 'academic studies proved that, most of the primary school students have a highly imaginative opinions' (agreement and article issues). While these lexical shortcomings occasionally distract the reader, communication is never impeded. To improve, the student needs greater precision in word choice and stronger control over spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as 'if we interview a random teenage student and a working professional, we can easily identify their thinking pattern...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, including 'our personal and professional life will not stay as the same', 'impact to change' instead of 'impact on changing', and minor punctuation lapses. The majority of simple sentences are accurate, but errors in complex structures persist and occasionally require the reader to re-read. This places the response firmly within the Band 6 territory for grammar.
