Student answer (Band 4.5)
Today, persons habits and opinions are changing when they get older. I completely agree with this statement.
The first reason why I agree with this statement is that persons habits and their opinions are changing depends on the situations. For instance, people who was their twenties, they were doing some excercise like go to the jim, walking, running and so on. However, when they get aged they do not have time due to the work and family responsibilities.Furthermore, when they were young they might be doing yoga and meditation but nowadays, after the age of fiftees they dont have any good health to do the same habits. Moreover, lifestyles are depending on their habits.
Another important reason that, their opinions also changing when they get old due to the life experiences. For example,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response significantly fails to meet the length requirement of 250 words, containing only 131 words and breaking off mid-sentence. While the writer introduces a clear position agreeing with the prompt, the development of ideas is severely truncated. The body paragraph attempts to present reasons regarding changing situations and life responsibilities, but it remains under-developed. Furthermore, the second body paragraph is left unfinished with just a transition phrase ('Another important reason that...'). Because the task is only partially addressed due to severe under-length and incomplete development, this falls under the criteria for Band 4.0. To improve, the student must ensure all parts of the essay are fully written out with extended supporting examples and reach the word count minimum.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays basic attempts at organisation, utilising standard transition markers such as 'The first reason why' and 'Furthermore'. However, overall progression is heavily disrupted because the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph consists of a single fragment. Referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in the phrase 'people who was their twenties'. Cohesive devices are mechanically used rather than skillfully integrated. While there is a discernible initial logical structure, the lack of completion prevents higher band scores. Achieving a higher band requires logical sequencing across a fully developed, multi-paragraph essay with appropriate and varied cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The student uses a basic and repetitive vocabulary range, such as repeatedly using the words 'habits', 'opinions', and 'statements' within close proximity. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as writing 'persons habits' (possessive missing an apostrophe), 'go to the jim' (spelling error for gym), 'when they get aged', and 'dont have any good health'. These errors show limited control over word formation and collocation. Although the meaning can mostly be discerned, the vocabulary is minimally adequate at best. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, incorporate less common lexical items accurately, and pay closer attention to spelling and standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but these attempts frequently contain grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Examples of grammatical lapses include subject-verb agreement issues ('people who was their twenties', 'lifestyles are depending'), tense inconsistencies, and missing prepositions. Punctuation is also neglected in places, such as spacing errors around commas and periods. While simple sentences are generally understandable, errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, accurate verb tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and thoroughly proofreading their work to eliminate frequent grammatical slips.
