Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that people tend to change their habits and behaviour as they get older.I strongly agree with this view because aging bring new responsibilities and experience which can alter one person view later in life.
On the one hand as people get older they tend to change their habits because people are more responsible an they mature over time.During younger years individuals spend most of their time spending money on latest gadgets, clothes and food which might not be a necessity during that time. They need more guidance from parents when they were younger but later these conditions change because they are more responsible and educated to live in a smart society. For instance ,a person is aware the drawbacks of eating junk food which might not be good for his health ,so he/she start looking for healthy options.
Moreover, peoples habits change as they gain experience and are more exposed the other perspective. In their youth they hold a opinion without having much knowledge on that. However, with balanced approach and education this can be changed. For instance, somebody who has never travelled outside his country may hold a different opinion for people living there with different social norms and culture.
However,Some individuals in life cannot alter their rules they have made for themselves and stick to them no matter what the situation is but they can also alter the rules maybe once in life or how the situation arise.
To conclude,I strongly agree that people can change their habits and opinion as they grow older.Increased responsibilities and habits impact a major roles in shaping someones opinion later in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, which is that the writer strongly agrees with the prompt. The main ideas regarding how aging brings new responsibilities and experiences are relevant and supported with explanations and examples, such as avoiding junk food and gaining perspective through travel. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the concession paragraph which is somewhat muddled and unclear ('Some individuals in life cannot alter their rules...'). Overall, the task is successfully covered, earning a solid Band 6.5 to 7.0 range, sitting comfortably at Band 6.0 due to the slight under-development in the counter-argument section.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', but referencing and linking are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence 'However,Some individuals in life cannot alter their rules...' lacks smooth transitional flow and logical clarity in connecting back to the main thesis. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear ('which might not be a good for his health ,so he/she start looking'). These issues place the response at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'necessity', 'social norms', and 'responsibilities'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling/punctuation issues throughout the text, such as missing spaces after commas and periods ('For instance ,a person', 'behaviour as they get older.I strongly agree'), and slightly unnatural phrasing like 'alter their rules they have made for themselves'. While communication is never impeded, the lexical control lacks the flexibility required for higher bands, making Band 6.0 an accurate descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures ('which might not be a necessity', 'somebody who has never travelled'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('aging bring', 'peoples habits', 'he/she start'), missing articles ('hold a opinion'), and punctuation errors. Complex structures are often prone to errors, which aligns closely with the Band 6 descriptor where errors persist in grammar and punctuation but rarely impede overall communication.
