Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent days, it is argued that people are becoming more adjustable with their lifestyle. People are fond of changing their routine as well as their decisions as they get older. I totally agree with this statement as change is a crucial thing in person's life.

First and foremost thing is the impact of changing lifestyle create more productivity and enhances the interest in particular thing. If people change their routine schedule in daily life, it gives them sense of relaxation and more productivity in their tasks. People not only get tired of doing same activity everyday but also it reduces their interest in that work. For example, many companies organize a day for their employee to do different activity at workplace such as pot-luck, game day, one day trip, etc. Due to this, they like to go for work and it provides them something different then daily activity. Hence, it is good to change their habits as it has more benefits.

Another main reason is society like people who change their thought about important decision for their children. Additionally, Parents are the most crucial part in the society as their children adapt technology rapidly and to become part of their childhood, parents need to change their habits and they need to update their lifestyle as per their children's requirements. This enhances knowledge of society and it also provides sense of connection with their loved ones. A good example is parents whose children are living abroad, they need to learn new technology for face-to-face interaction. Therefore, society should change their way of thinking and decisions to connected with each other.

To conclude, in this world people who accept the change and change their habits can not only make people productive but also give them chance to connected with younger generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear position ('I totally agree with this statement') and supporting it throughout with relevant examples. The first body paragraph discusses how changing daily routines enhances productivity and engagement, citing workplace activities like pot-lucks and game days. The second body paragraph explores how parents change opinions and habits to connect with their children and adapt to new technologies, such as learning tools for face-to-face interaction. While the ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, some arguments veer slightly into general societal observations rather than fully exploring the personal shift in habits and opinions over time. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed, and the position is clear, fitting well within the Band 6.5 to 7.0 range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. It opens with an introduction containing a clear stance, follows with two distinct body paragraphs focusing on separate main ideas (workplace productivity and parental adaptation), and concludes appropriately. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'First and foremost thing', 'Another main reason', and 'To conclude'. However, some cohesive links feel slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'First and foremost thing is the impact of changing lifestyle create...', and referencing is occasionally imprecise. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, ensuring the overall arrangement remains coherent and easy to follow, aligning closely with Band 6.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'productivity', 'pot-luck', and 'interaction'. However, there are noticeable limitations and occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'becoming more adjustable with their lifestyle' instead of adaptable, and 'changing lifestyle create' instead of creates. Spelling is generally accurate, but the restricted flexibility in phrasing and occasional awkward word forms place the vocabulary squarely in the Band 6.0 category, where the range is sufficient to communicate the main ideas despite some imprecise expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition with subordinate clauses (e.g., 'If people change their routine schedule...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that disrupt fluency, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the impact of changing lifestyle create') and preposition errors ('to connected with each other' instead of to connect). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical inaccuracies occur with enough frequency that they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Communication is not impeded, making Band 6.0 an accurate assessment.
