Student answer (Band 5.5)

Growing older brings lot of physical and psychological changes . Especially their habits and opinions take a drastic shift in their life . Although change is inevitable ,and a part of getting old. There is more positive aspect these changes bring in anyone's life.

There are various stages of aging ,which bring a lot of physical and psychological changes throughout their lifespan . when comes to their routine , which is altered due to their physical changes transformation. Moreover the opinion changes are due to the experience they gain

through their hardship they face in their day to day life.

Firstly ,their habits are altered due their physical inefficiancy. For instance , A 60 year old elderly person can do exercise in a slow paced manner, compared to his young age exercise routine, he would completed an entire lap of running with ease. Moreover his energy will be consistent to challenge more hardcore training. They would have been more productive in their household chores, folowing a great regime in gardening ,cooking and spending time with family. Aging progress the restraint themselfs from these activities and find to be alone.

Secondly, they tend to forget the most they talk . Forgetfulness is one such thing that is part of being old. Unfortunely they may forget the point they were clinging to. For instance

my uncle believed in a paradox that good deeds bring goodness .But when this pandemic

stuck everyone ,no matter age, race and creed. His philosophy was shattered.

He found a way to be more pragmatic and believes now whatever will be will be.

To conlclude aging can bring a lot of dynamic shift in a person's life,so as in their opinion and

habits too. which is unavoidable. I believe habits and opinion change what matters is the person who can adapt to it , and be the better version of himself in the days to come.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses the prompt by discussing how habits and opinions change with age, taking a clear stance that these changes bring positive aspects. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended with some examples, such as the comparison of exercise routines for a 60-year-old and the anecdote about the uncle's philosophical shift during the pandemic. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive or lack full elaboration, such as the sudden pivot to forgetfulness in the fourth paragraph which only tangentially connects to the main theme of habit and opinion change. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed sufficiently to meet the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a recognizable structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs mix disparate ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'To conlclude,' but referencing is sometimes faulty, and punctuation issues before and after connectors (e.g., spaces before commas and periods) disrupt the flow. While the progression of ideas is generally understandable, the mechanical use of cohesive devices and occasional logical leaps keep this criterion at a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items like 'inevitable,' 'inefficiancy,' 'paradox,' and 'pragmatic.' However, there are numerous lexical errors, word-choice inaccuracies, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'inefficiancy' instead of inefficiency, 'folowing' instead of following, 'stuck' instead of struck, and 'restraint themselfs' instead of restrain themselves. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as missing spaces before periods, double spaces, and incorrect sentence boundaries (e.g., 'Although change is inevitable ,and a part of getting old. There is more positive aspect...'). Furthermore, subject-verb agreement and article usage errors occur frequently, such as 'brings lot of physical' and 'when comes to their routine.' Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, this warrants a Band 5.0.
