Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that people change their habits and opinions as they age, presenting supporting ideas such as awareness, experience, and shifting social influences. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive, with several underdeveloped points. Furthermore, the response falls short of the required word count, coming in at 225 words instead of the minimum 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall fullness and extension of the task, preventing the response from achieving a higher score. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the lack of sufficient length and deeper elaboration keeps the task achievement at a band 5.5 level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic overall structure with an introduction, body paragraphs featuring standard signposts like 'To commence with' and 'In conclusion', and a concluding sentence. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'Adding more, becomes a more experienced' and 'Hence, they follow that one for making things smoothly.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion suffers from unclear links between sentences and frequent shifts in focus. The use of cohesive devices is often inaccurate or awkward, leading to a choppy reading experience. These limitations align closely with the characteristics of band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include 'changing the test of habits' instead of 'taste' or 'tenor', 'familoar', 'advacement', 'techonoly', and 'imaginery'. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'scrutinize' and 'practical', these attempts are often marred by inaccuracies that can cause some difficulty for the reader. The lexical range is minimally adequate for expressing simple ideas, but the frequency of spelling and word-formation errors places this performance firmly at band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and ungrammatical. For instance, phrases like 'due to advacement in techonoly people get a alots of informative resources which are very helpful for them to provided a knoweldge they want' and 'because if they will stuck on the same things for whole life that maybe not more beneficial' demonstrate persistent errors in verb tenses, articles, and clause structures. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, notably with lowercase 'i'. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, fitting the descriptor for band 5.0.
