Student answer (Band 5.0)
i strongly agree with the statement. People tend to change their habits and opinions as they grow older, our lifestyle changes when we are maturing in life and increasing responisbilties causes our habits and opinions to change.
when we are young we dont have much obligations and duties. the way we view the world is different. for exmaple at a younger age we tend to go out with friends and spend a carefree lifestyle, like eating fast foods and not exceriseing much but when we are growing older we tend to be more health concerned and we judge our lifestyle parttens and ajust it accordingly and as our responsibilies grows we have to adjust our habits accordingly as well
our options are also changes according to the experiences and due to the external factors of the environment. n my own experience, I have noticed that my priorities have changed as I have become older. When I was younger, I mainly focused on education and spending time with friends. Now, I give more importance to career development, financial stability and family responsibilities. My opinions about these areas have also changed because of the experiences I have had.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response clearly presents a position in agreement with the statement, noting that habits and opinions change due to aging, lifestyle shifts, and increasing responsibilities. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as shifting from carefree youth with poor health habits to more health-conscious adult patterns, and transitioning from educational focus to career and family priorities. However, the ideas lack full extension and deep support. More importantly, the response falls significantly short of the minimum word count requirement, containing only 196 words compared to the required 250 words. This under-length penalty restricts the task achievement score, as the prompt's instructions regarding length have not been met, leaving the development incomplete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a basic organizational structure with an introduction and body paragraphs that attempt to discuss habits and opinions separately. However, paragraphing is underdeveloped, and the transition between ideas can feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'when' and 'and'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and punctuation errors (such as missing capitalization and run-on sentences like 'People tend to change their habits and opinions as they grow older, our lifestyle changes...') detract from the overall flow and logical progression of the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, but it remains somewhat limited and repetitive. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'financial stability', 'career development', and 'health concerned', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling errors ('responisbilties', 'exmaple', 'exceriseing', 'parttens', 'ajust', 'options' instead of 'opinions'). Word choice is occasionally imprecise, such as 'judge our lifestyle parttens'. While the meaning remains mostly clear despite the errors, the lexical range and accuracy do not consistently reach the level required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are numerous punctuation errors, most notably a total lack of initial capital letters at the beginning of sentences (e.g., 'i strongly agree', 'when we are young', 'our options are also changes'). Additionally, there are grammatical inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'our options are also changes according to the experiences' and run-on sentences lacking appropriate conjunctions or full stops. These frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from rising higher.
