Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is commonly seen that many individual adopt a change in their habits and opinions as they age. I agree with the statement, because change in lifetstyle is directly related to change in habits. Whereas opinions differ with life experiences.
Firstly, a difference in lifestyle changes habits. As kids all human beings inherit certain habits from their parents or surroundings but these keep changing as a human ages. These changes are mostly pointed towards eating, sleeping and physical activities of a person. A middle age man for example, who used to run 20km in his young days might find it difficult to go past 5km at his current age. Hoewever, this is because our body requirements changes over a period of time depending on the situations a person is living in.
Furthermore, opinions change with life experiences, Many individuals will see that as they grow a better knowledge of things their thinking starts changing, this can be in a negative or a positive way. For instance, while a person is young they see money only as a source to buy candies or toys but when they grow mature they realise that money can be used in a much better way. Therefore opinions are dependent on the kind of experiences a human has in their lifes.
In conclusion, changes in the style of living affects the habits of a person, as the requirement of the body changes with age. Moreover the thinking of a person is shaped by the experiences they have in their life which changes their approach to they look at things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt directly by agreeing that people change habits and opinions as they age, presenting clear reasons to support this position. The writer introduces two main arguments: how lifestyle changes affect habits, and how life experiences shape opinions. While the ideas are relevant and supported with examples such as a middle-aged man running shorter distances and a person's changing perspective on money, the development remains somewhat basic and lacks depth. Furthermore, there is a minor contradiction in the introduction where the writer states, 'change in lifestyle is directly related to change in habits. Whereas opinions differ with life experiences,' which interrupts the flow of the main thesis. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, and a clear position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Firstly,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader through the structure of the response. However, referencing and cohesive links are sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as starting a sentence with 'Hoewever, this is because' without proper spacing and punctuation, and concluding with 'the approach to they look at things.' Although progression is visible, the relationships between sentences lack complete fluidity, placing this performance at Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their main ideas successfully. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items and phrases like 'lifetstyle,' 'body requirements,' and 'life experiences.' However, the lexical range is somewhat limited, and there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'individual' instead of 'individuals,' 'lifetstyle' instead of 'lifestyle,' and 'hoewever' instead of 'however.' Additionally, phrases like 'a middle age man' lack necessary hyphenation and adjective forms. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, making Band 6 an accurate reflection.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The writer attempts various structures, such as conditional or relative clauses, for instance, 'while a person is young they see money only as a source...' and 'a middle age man for example, who used to run 20km...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including subject-verb agreement slips ('our body requirements changes'), missing articles, and typos like 'Hoewever, this'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear and they rarely impede overall communication. The presence of these recurrent errors alongside a mix of sentence structures firmly places the grammatical performance within the Band 6 level.
