Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this world which is growing to fast day to day, yes i do agree that people often change thier habits and opinions as they grow older. There are least amount of people in today's world who stick to there points. those kind of people i assume are very discipline in there life. in todays modern era the technolgy has spicked at its best that, there are so many distractions for the people which makes it very hard to stick with one habit and opinion according to my point of view.
As we grow older we experince lot of things which makes positive and negetive effect on our brain. So people adapt the things which goes well for them and let go there old habits which were pulling them down. For instict, my best friend who grew up in a hindu orthodox family was a divine person until he moved to foreing for higher education. As he moved abroad his thinking and habits changed, as he got to know aboout the lifestyle and culture about the country. He starterd adopting the lifestyle and eventually his habits changed and opinions as well. Years passed by and he was a total different personality which did't include anything from his past life.
So in my opinion ofcourse, habits and opinion are linked to eachother and as we get older it keeps changing as i mentioned in my first paragraph that its remain same when comes to selective people, but i strongly agree on this statement that habits and opinion keep on changing as we grow old.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that people change their habits and opinions as they get older. The writer attempts to support this with relevant ideas, such as technological distractions and the influence of moving abroad, using a personal example about a best friend. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and lacks full extension. For instance, the transition from the friend's upbringing to his total personality change is stated rather than deeply analysed. Furthermore, there is some minor over-generalisation about people today. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 6 level where relevant ideas are presented, though some parts are slightly under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion. Progression is visible as the writer moves from a general introduction to a specific personal example and a final summary. However, paragraphing is poorly handled; the second paragraph is exceptionally long and encompasses multiple ideas that would have been better separated. Cohesive devices are sometimes faulty, mechanical, or incorrectly used, such as starting a sentence with 'For instict' and erratic referencing (e.g., 'those kind of people'). Furthermore, logical transitions between sentences can be abrupt. These issues with paragraphing and cohesive control prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying general meaning with words like 'distractions', 'culture', and 'lifestyle'. However, there is a limited control of word choice and frequent spelling errors, such as 'to fast', 'thier', 'there' instead of 'their', 'discipline' instead of 'disciplined', 'technolgy', 'spicked', 'experince', 'negetive', 'instict', 'foreing', and 'aboout'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary often result in inaccurate collocations or misspellings (e.g., 'divine person' used in an unusual context). Because these lexical errors are frequent and occasionally draw the reader's attention, the response matches the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional or relative clauses ('which makes it very hard', 'as they grow older'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are frequent punctuation errors, such as missing capitalisation for pronouns like 'i' and starting sentences incorrectly, comma splices, and sentence boundary errors. Subject-verb agreement and prepositional use are also problematic in places (e.g., 'opinions are linked to eachother', 'moved to foreing for higher education'). While the meaning is generally clear despite these obstacles, the high frequency of grammatical and punctuation mistakes places this response at Band 5.0.
