Student answer (Band 7.5)
It is common for people to change their opinions as they grow older. This is mainly because people gain experience and face different responsibilities throughout their lives. I agree that age can have a significant influence on both a person's lifestyle and their point of view.
One major reason people change their habits is that their priorities often change with age. Young people may spend more time socializing, eating fast food, or staying up late because they have fewer responsibilities. However, as they become older, they may start working, getting married, or having kids, which can encourage them to adopt healthier and more organized routines. For example, a person who regularly eats unhealthy food in their twenties may start exercising or having a balanced diet after realizing the importance of nutrients and vitamins.
People's opinions can also change because of their experiences and increased knowledge. When people are young, they may have strong likes and dislikes, based mainly on family, friends, or limited personal experience. As they get older, they meet different kinds of people and experience new situations, which can lead them to develop open-mindedness. For example, someone who believes that working in an office is the only way to have a successful career or to earn money may change their opinions after experiencing remote work or starting a new startup with their unique thoughts.
In conclusion, I agree that people commonly change both their habits and opinions as they grow older. Changes in responsibilities, lifestyle, knowledge, and personal experiences can all influence the way people live and think. Therefore, getting older can naturally lead to significant changes in a person's behaviour and views.

Both key areas of the prompt—habits and opinions—are explored in dedicated body paragraphs with relevant supporting examples, such as lifestyle changes regarding fast food and the evolution of career perspectives. Ideas are well developed and extended logically, meeting the Band 7 and leaning towards Band 8 descriptors for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, moving smoothly from the introduction to body paragraphs focusing separately on habits and opinions, and finally to a neat conclusion. Cohesive devices are used effectively and naturally, such as 'However, as they become older' and 'People's opinions can also change because of their experiences'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, ensuring the reader can easily follow your line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 7.0
Your vocabulary choice is adequate and generally precise, demonstrating a sufficient range for the task. You successfully incorporate less common lexical items and phrases such as 'adopt healthier and more organized routines', 'open-mindedness', and 'significant influence'. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and any minor slips do not impede communication, placing your grammatical performance comfortably at a Band 7.5 level.
