Student answer (Band 6.0)
As we grow old in age, it is very usual for people to change their habits and opinions.
Experiences, time and certains stages in life mold or shape people's routines or ideas. When we were kids we didnt have so much to think about asides going to school, studying, come back home to do assignments, rest up or play with friends. The routine was pretty simple and free, we werent burdened with how school fees were paid or even what to eat because our parents were there to take care of that for us.
Growing older, responsibilies set in. After school, you start job hunting. Now your routine changes, you no linger sleep as long as you want to or even spend impulusively. Every move you make or take is calculated wisely because now your life is in your hands.
For instance if you used to run a business from home and you just landed an office job, obviously your routine changes. You sleep early so you can be up on time to meet up for work, you plan your day and your schedule properly because this is now more official and your source of income depends on it .
Certain life events mold peoples opinion, for instance i always thought if i was obedient, meek, gentle and let things go easily i could protect my relationship and avoid issues or drama or worse case a breakup.
Whereas inbetween i lost myself,i lost my spark,i didnt have a say and i was always in the middle of an arguement. Having endured that for a long time,it soon dawned on me i was boxed up and unhappy. That i wanted a peaceful relationship doesnt mean i should have a say or always agree or accept what ny partner says. i should speak up too

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt directly, agreeing with the premise that habits and opinions change with age. The student provides clear reasons and relevant personal examples, such as the transition from childhood simplicity to adult responsibilities, and a personal anecdote about relationship perspectives. While the ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, the discussion is somewhat conversational and could be extended further to achieve a higher band. However, all parts of the task are addressed with a clear position throughout, fulfilling the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is organised into manageable paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct phase or example. There is a clear overall progression from childhood to adulthood, followed by personal reflection. However, paragraphing is somewhat inconsistent with very short paragraphs and missing spaces after punctuation marks in several places. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing can occasionally be repetitive or mechanical (e.g., repeating 'for instance'). Overall arrangement is coherent, placing this comfortably in the Band 6 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'responsibilities set in', 'impulsively', and 'calculated wisely'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors, spelling mistakes, and omissions throughout the text, such as 'certains', 'asides', 'come' instead of 'coming', and 'arguement'. These lexical errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over conditional and relative structures (e.g., 'if you used to run a business from home and you just landed an office job...'). However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, punctuation errors, and missing apostrophes (e.g., 'didnt', 'werent', 'ny partner'). While these errors do not stop the reader from understanding the meaning, they occur regularly enough to restrict the score to a Band 6.
