Student answer (Band 5.5)

Age plays an important role to change the habit and the opinion of the old individulas. I Completly agree with this statement because getting older change the person physical fitness and their opinions become more clear and logical.

According to this statement i agree that when people pass their certain age then their habit become change like they donnot like to talk to much and their food choises change. The old people face some physical problem so sometime they like to eat much food or sometime less. Even their tastebuds are not supporting them. Moreover, some people keep their habits same as they go outside for morning and do some regular execise. This can help them to physically fit. Furthermore, they face so much of their life so there are so many responsibility they took and imporve through out their age. They mainly take their family with them and guid them. Eventhough, they enourage their family members to achive something that will help them to stay stronger and become financially strong. Older people a common habit to save money and make planning for the future.

Secondly, their opinions are much stronger because of the responsibilities and experiance they had. They faced problem in their young age which help them to stay responsible and givd clear opions which can be benifical for their family members. They give the right opinion to their close one because they faced so much in their life like how to become mentally strong and shared their life experiance. This can make the people to walk in right track and follow the guidence of the older people. If i am talking more about their habit so mainly young people focus more on entertainment and using technology to much, however, older people have a common habit to do some regular exercise to become relax and stay calm.

Conclusion, this shows that older people have common habits and opinions about the life responsibilities and make good health and maintain their daily routine not focus on social media.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear and consistent position in agreement with the statement that people change their habits and opinions as they get older. Main ideas are presented, such as shifting physical health and clearer, more logical opinions formed through life experience. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion around habits touches upon physical problems and diet, but lacks specific extension or deeper exploration. The conclusion is also quite abrupt, simply restating points without adding a sense of closure. Despite these weaknesses in fully extending every point, the prompt is adequately addressed throughout. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate as it shows a relevant position and addresses all parts of the task, though development is uneven.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a clear overall progression of ideas, moving from an introduction to habits, then to opinions, and finally a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct sections for habits and opinions, though the paragraphs are overly dense and lack internal signposting. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as 'According to this statement i agree', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Secondly'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'their', which occasionally make it difficult to determine whether the author is referring to young people or older individuals. While the text is coherent overall, the mechanical and sometimes faulty use of cohesion places this response firmly at a band 6.0 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student displays an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts relating to aging, health, and responsibilities. There are attempts to use less common items such as 'tastebuds', 'responsibility', and 'experiance', but these are frequently marred by spelling errors ('individulas', 'Completly', 'donnot', 'choises', 'execise', 'imporve', 'enourage', 'achive', 'experiance', 'benifical'). Word choice and collocation are also imprecise at times, such as 'take their family with them' or 'give the right opinion'. Because the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message despite frequent spelling mistakes and lexical limitations, the response meets the descriptors for a band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures like 'If i am talking more about their habit so mainly young people...' However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'habit become change', 'Older people a common habit', 'opinions... is much stronger'), article usage, and capitalization (e.g., 'i', 'Completly'). Punctuation is also problematic, particularly run-on sentences and comma splices in the conclusion and body paragraphs. Although these errors are noticeable and cause some difficulty for the reader, communication is rarely entirely impeded, aligning well with the band 5.0 descriptors.
