Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era it becomes obious to have difference in individual's thoughts and custom as they become old. I strongly agree with this notion as people's priorities, responsibilties and experience changes as they grow in their life.

One major factor behind change in people's habit is added responsibilites. In young age people have more time to spend on their hobbies as they do not have the responsibilty of doing things for thier families as it is taken care by their parents. But as they get old and they get married they have to take care of their partner alongside and these duties increse with time as their family grows and they become parents. As a result they get less time for themself and they have to focus more for the wellbeing of their family.Hence, with increanced responsipilts people have to adapt their interst accordingly.

In addition to this, knowledge plays a vital role to change in one's opinion. For instance, people in thier young age do not have proper knowledge of things but as they grow and meet new people they start to gain knowledge from them and they start to think accordingly. They got better understanding of things when they start to adapt information from different people and their background. so,with more learing they get more change in their habits and opinios can be seen.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that it is understandable to have change in habits of growing individuals. Increasing responsibilties can influence their daily lifestyle where as with more knowledge and life experience they learn to take better decisions. therefore these changes are for their betterment and are necessary for thier growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and well-developed position on whether people change their habits and opinions as they get older. The writer introduces two main arguments: the impact of increasing life responsibilities on personal habits, and the role of knowledge and experience in shifting opinions. These ideas are extended and supported with logical reasoning and general examples, such as how growing up, getting married, and starting a family reduce free time and force lifestyle adjustments. While the support tends to be somewhat generalised rather than drawing on deeply specific personal anecdotes, it fully satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 response by presenting a cohesive and relevant argument throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Each paragraph has a discernible focus, starting with responsibilities and moving on to knowledge and opinions. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'One major factor', 'In addition to this', and 'In conclusion'. However, there are some minor cohesive and referencing flaws, such as 'themself' and 'sorterm', along with occasional punctuation and spacing oversights (e.g., missing spaces after periods). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, though overall cohesion occasionally feels slightly mechanical rather than entirely fluid.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'contemporary era', 'priorities', 'responsibilities', and 'wellbeing'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'obious' (obvious), 'responsibilites' / 'responsipilts' (responsibilities), 'thier' (their), 'increse' (increase), 'increanced' (increased), 'interst' (interest), and 'learing' (learning). While these errors do not impede communication and the writer's meaning remains clear, the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevents the lexical score from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing subordinate clauses effectively with connectors like 'as they grow in their life' and 'when they start to adapt information'. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as missing articles ('at young age' instead of 'at a young age'), subject-verb agreement issues ('experience changes'), and frequent run-on clauses or missing spacing after periods. Despite these errors, the grammatical structures used are varied enough to successfully convey complex thoughts, and meaning is rarely obscured. Control of grammar aligns comfortably with the Band 6 descriptors.
