Furthermore, life experiences of each person shift their habits over time. Many people have change their habits in their adulthood based on their needs and responsibilities. Often people lose their habits or replaced it with the new one depends on their workloads and responsibilities of family. For instance, although children often have habit of reading books in their free time, in the adulthood due to family time and busy schedule this habit vanished from their lives. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the comparison between childhood reading habits and adult responsibilities, as well as the differing viewpoints of young graduates versus experienced professionals regarding career progression. While some arguments have a slight tendency to overgeneralize, the main tenets of the prompt are fully covered. The writer presents a well-developed stance from the introduction through to the conclusion, fully meeting the criteria for a solid performance in this area.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout, fully satisfying the level below while exhibiting some elements of higher bands. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct introduction, body paragraphs focusing on habits and opinions respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are utilised to structure the response, though some referencing and linking mechanisms feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the transition 'However, On the other hand,'. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent and easy to follow, representing a balanced command of textual cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing sufficient range to communicate the central ideas. The writer attempts some less common lexical items, such as 'responsibilities', 'priorities', and 'association', which shows an awareness of style. However, noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation prevent a higher rating. Examples include 'developed a new habits' (article and pluralisation error), 'young gradute' (spelling error), and 'life experiances' (spelling error). These lexical inaccuracies do not impede communication, but they reflect a limitation in precise lexical control and variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'although', 'due to', and conditional concepts. However, there are frequent grammar and punctuation errors that prevent a smoother reading experience. Issues include subject-verb agreement and tense inconsistencies, such as 'habits and opinions commonly developed with the age' (incorrect tense and preposition), 'challenges and difficulties that changes' (agreement error), and 'younger person... can only provide a limited resolutions' (article and plural mismatch). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they demonstrate persistent control issues that place this criterion firmly at the current level.
