Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is a widely accepted belief that as people get older they tend to change their habits and their opinions. Although it is acontroversial topic but i think that it is true. In the upcoming discussion I will try to explain both the beliefs and also will support my opinion with some examples.
As people get older they gain more knowledge and experience. What they used to believe earlier was usally the result of their ignorance or lack of knowledge but as they age they tend to change their opinions owing to the fact that they gain life experiences and also knowledge. They not only gain experience from their own life but also from the life lessons of their coworkers , neighbours and most importantly friends.
If a person has a habit of reading boks and articles and watching informative documentries then it would serve as an additional resource for increasing the knowledge and ultimately changing the opinion about something.
On the other hand, there are people who are stubborn and rigid. Such people usually do not change their opinions and habits because of their personality type. They usually do not think out of their bubble and do not ponder over the facts only because of their rigid attitude and that ultimately results in their low level of growth not only as a person but also as coworker and a friend. People usually hesitate working and bonding with such persons because only a person who has the ability to grow and adapt can succeed and such are the people who can change opinions and habits overtime.
In conclusion I would say that people change over time in their opinions and habits and that is good for them so they can adapt well to this fast paced world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether people change their habits and opinions as they age, supporting it with relevant arguments. However, some ideas remain under-developed or lack sufficient extension. For example, while the second paragraph introduces the concept of gaining knowledge and life experiences from coworkers and neighbors, this point is not fully elaborated with a concrete, personal example. Similarly, the mention of reading books and watching documentaries in the third paragraph is stated as a brief condition rather than expanded into a fully developed supporting argument. The conclusion summarises the stance adequately, maintaining a clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing different aspects of the topic, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas, such as the general trend of changing opinions versus the counter-argument involving stubborn personalities. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always completely clear. For instance, transitional phrases like 'In the upcoming discussion' feel rather formulaic, and the connection between the third paragraph and the surrounding text is somewhat abrupt. Cohesive devices are functional, but their use lacks the flexibility and seamless flow characteristic of higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'controversial', 'ignorance', 'documentries' (spelling error for documentaries), and 'fast paced'. While communication is not impeded, there are noticeable spelling slips and word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'acontroversial' written as one word and 'boks'. Additionally, some collocations and word forms could be more precise, reflecting an adequate yet limited control of lexical features. The vocabulary deployed serves the message sufficiently, but occasional slips prevent the use from reaching a more polished and flexible standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures such as conditional sentences and subordinate clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing commas after introductory phrases like 'In conclusion I would say' and faulty punctuation in compound sentences, such as 'Although it is acontroversial topic but i think that it is true'. Pronoun capitalization issues ('i') and minor prepositional or article slips also occur. Nevertheless, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the train of thought without major difficulty.
