Student answer (Band 5.0)

To begin with, it is very common for people to change their opinion and habits. I am agree with the provided statement and in the upcoming paragraph evey thing will be discussed by me.

First of all, changing opinions in people is oftenly seen because of time like after complete senior secondary class a student have to choose his stream which field he or she want to study. Secondly, when he or she makes friends some of them are very good and some are not after dealing with this situation they get the knowledge of what is good or bad in this way the opinions of folks are changed by time. On the other hand when we talk about habits they will be changed because of the responsiblities like doing jobs to collet tution fees and engaging in the competions.

For instance, a survey conducted by a college to check the IQ level of the upcoming generations it was noticed that most of the folks are awared about their future and they know what to do and when.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing agreement that people change their habits and opinions over time, but the development of ideas is limited and under-developed. For example, the point about changing opinions due to choosing a study stream or dealing with friends is stated rather than fully extended with clear reasoning. Furthermore, the response relies on repetitive phrasing and a somewhat unclear example regarding a college survey about IQ levels and future awareness. Additionally, the task requires a minimum of 250 words, but this response falls short with only 222 words, negatively impacting the completeness of the answer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with the use of standard transition markers such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude it', providing an overall framework. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text, and referencing is sometimes confusing, as seen in the phrase 'when he or she makes friends... after dealing with this situation they get the knowledge'. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences within paragraphs tend to run together mechanically without smooth logical connections, making the flow somewhat disjointed and repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical slips include 'oftenly' instead of 'often', 'collet tution fees' containing spelling errors, and 'folks' which is overly informal for this style of writing. The range of vocabulary remains restricted to basic terms, and attempts at less common lexical items are largely absent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('a student have to choose', 'opinions of folks are changed', 'situations helps then'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions. A prominent error appears in the opening sentence: 'I am agree with the provided statement', which uses the verb 'to be' instead of the auxiliary 'do'. These frequent errors place a strain on the reader.
