Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that you strongly agree people change habits and opinions with age. You support this stance with relevant ideas and personal examples, such as your grandfather's running habits and your mother's changing view on love marriages. However, some ideas remain under-developed, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. For instance, the discussion on responsibilities and general behaviour in the second paragraph lacks sufficient extension and remains quite brief. To move higher, you should expand on your main ideas by explaining the underlying reasons behind these behavioural shifts in greater depth, rather than relying on brief illustrative examples alone.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the writing is divided into logical paragraphs. You make use of basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'For example', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader through your arguments. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or faulty. For example, the transitional phrase 'on the basis of that it is obvious that' feels slightly clunky and repetitive in its construction. To achieve a higher band, you need to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing between sentences is smoother and less predictable, creating a more seamless flow of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points about age and personal change. You attempt less common vocabulary, such as 'inevitable process' and 'mindset', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling. For example, you use 'preferances' instead of 'preferences', 'completly gets change' instead of 'completely change', and 'marriges' instead of 'marriages'. These lexical and spelling errors are noticeable and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve in this criterion, you need to expand your working vocabulary, pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, and thoroughly check your spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms. However, your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, containing noticeable errors in subject-verb agreement and clause construction. For instance, you write 'The people who is getting older they change their habits', which exhibits incorrect subject-verb agreement and redundant pronouns, and 'their body can not able to perform', which contains a modal error. Furthermore, sentences like 'Each individual change theirselevs everyday' show persistent errors in plurals and verb forms. To reach the next band, you must increase your control over complex sentence patterns and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors by ensuring accurate tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and clause structure.
