Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this comtemporary era, everything is advancing at rapid pace. It is an undeniable fact that people have changed their way of living and viewpoints after a certain period of time. I strongly agree with the above notion, and I will discuss this along with examples in subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, there are several factorrs which provide support to my viewpoint, children pressure on older people is one of them. In other words, when youngones has grown up they have distinct mindsets than their parents because they are living in up-to-date society. Owing to this, under children's pressure old age people have changed their habits and opinions rather than any disputes in family. To cite an example here, in these days juveniles prefer to wear western dresses on parties however, older generation are against it, and when they try to restrict them it creates conflicts between them. Therefore, older people change their thoughts and judgements to prevent any family drama between them.

Moreover, physical changes can be the another significant reason. Because as they get older they have changes in their body such as body postures, way of walking, speech, and memory. With this, their habits automatically get changed. For instance- a foreman who had been worked in an oranganization from longer period, now their habits are transformed due to the age. Hence, people cannot remain a same in their life.

To recapitulate, although individuals has right to live their life according to their taste, there are some circumstances in which individuals lose their liberty, and follow whatever is coming in the society at that time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear stance on whether people change their habits and opinions as they get older. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding children's pressure is introduced, but the explanation is rather vague and relies on sweeping generalisations about juveniles wearing western dresses at parties. Similarly, the second body paragraph introduces physical changes and attempts an example about a foreman, but this example is underdeveloped and lacks clarity in connecting the premise to the overall argument. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support each main idea with more precise, elaborated explanations and relevant, realistic examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the writing is divided into distinct paragraphs. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate', but their usage can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'when youngones has grown up they have distinct mindsets than their parents because they are living in up-to-date society', where pronoun reference and logical connection between clauses are slightly strained. To achieve a higher band, the progression of ideas needs to be smoother, and cohesive devices should be used more flexibly and naturally throughout the text without relying on formulaic transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'contemporary era', 'distinct mindsets', and 'physical changes'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect limitations in lexical control. Examples include 'comtemporary' (spelling), 'factorrs' (spelling), 'youngones' (word formation), and 'oranganization' (spelling), along with awkward collocations like 'old age people'. While these vocabulary errors do not entirely impede communication, they occur regularly. To reach the next level, the writer must expand their lexical range with greater precision and eliminate basic spelling and word-choice inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at subordination and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Notable grammatical issues include subject-verb agreement errors such as 'when youngones has grown up' and 'individuals has right', article errors ('in these days juveniles prefer to wear western dresses on parties'), and awkward phrasing in complex structures ('now their habits are transformed due to the age'). Punctuation and preposition usage within grammatical patterns also show persistent inaccuracy. To improve, the student needs to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate better control over tense agreement and plurals.
