Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this technological era, we all are need to be changed in not only in our daily habits but also in our ideas or opinions especially we got older. I partially agree with this point as some of the habits are good for our life. So I suggest my point of views in upcoming paragraphs.

First point infront of this points is that if we don't change our older habits and opinions then the people don't like the company and start ingnore our ideas. They think that our old opinion is not good enough to get achivements or our goals. For example, before people don't take risk to get their goals but nowadays without taking risk, you can not achieve goals. So people have to change their opinions as per situation.

Second point of view in to change habits is that people need to change their habits if it is not a good or it affacts other life. For example, some people make habit to drink wine or take cigarattes daily. With this habit, it negatively affacts on his health and also change life with their loved ones for example wasting too much money on wine not for good things like education or well being. Some habits like people are teasing someone who are not self deffencive then it makes crime if they take some negative steps like killing theirselfs or may be sometimes it effects their mental health.

On the positive side like not to change their habits and opinions, if some people have habits to wake up early and do some excersice or go to gym then it is good habit in terms of health and it change thier life on the longway and make them happy and fresh all the day. So that kind of habit or opinion not to change if you grow older and I am agree with this.

To conclude, some habits and opinions have to change with the time pass but some of them are not changed with the time and it is beneficial to all.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that you partially agree with the statement. You cover both sides of the argument, discussing why opinions and habits change over time as well as why some beneficial habits should be maintained. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the first body paragraph touches upon social acceptance and taking risks, but the explanation remains somewhat generalized and lacks deep elaboration. The example regarding risk-taking is stated rather than fully extended. Similarly, the discussion on harmful habits in the second body paragraph introduces multiple ideas—such as smoking, drinking, and bullying—without thoroughly exploring any single consequence. To reach the next level, you need to ensure all main ideas are fully extended and supported with detailed, relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate different arguments, such as the need for change versus maintaining positive habits. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. You rely heavily on repetitive transitional phrases like 'First point infront of this points' and 'Second point of view in to change habits', which makes the flow feel somewhat unnatural and mechanical. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences where pronoun use is confusing, such as 'negatively affacts on his health and also change life with their loved ones'. To improve, you should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points about habits and opinions. You attempt less common vocabulary, such as 'technological era', 'well being', and 'beneficial', but this is accompanied by some inaccuracy in word choice, collocation, and word formation. For example, you write 'take cigarattes' instead of 'smoke cigarettes', 'affacts' instead of 'affects', and 'kill theirselfs' instead of 'kill themselves'. There are also several word-choice errors that indicate a limited range, though they generally do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision, paying closer attention to collocations, word forms, and spelling to ensure your expression is natural and appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your response, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that persist throughout the text. These include issues with verb forms and tenses, such as 'we all are need to be changed' and 'especially we got older', as well as problems with prepositions and articles. For instance, you write 'infront of this points' and omit necessary articles in phrases like 'before people don't take risk'. While these errors rarely impede communication entirely, they occur with enough frequency to hold the grammar score at this level. To move up, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and reduce the density of grammatical errors by carefully proofreading your work.
