Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position on whether people change their habits and opinions as they get older. Relevant ideas are presented, such as gaining day-to-day experience and adapting to different types of jobs over time. However, some of these ideas are under-developed or remain somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on jobs largely circles back to being satisfied and gratified without deeply exploring how specific career milestones alter core perspectives. While examples are provided, such as the cited surveys and articles, the reasoning and explanation surrounding them lack full extension. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide more thorough elaboration and deeper insight into how and why these shifts in habits and opinions actually occur.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the writing is divided into distinct paragraphs. Progression is generally apparent, moving from day-to-day experience to the influence of different jobs. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or slightly repetitive, particularly in the transitions used between paragraphs, such as 'To commence with the view of agreement' and 'Furthermore, another reason is that'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'by getting older they have done witrh different types of jobs, automatocally impacts their habits', where the pronoun reference is somewhat loose. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a more flexible and natural range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical progression between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items and phrases such as 'arduous situations', 'gratified', and 'fluctuate their older thinkings'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'upcomming', 'witrh', 'automatocally', 'majour', and 'well cooperative'. The use of phrasing like 'masses doing a lot of hardwork' and 'getting day to day experience' lacks precision and natural collocation. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occasionally detract from the reading experience. To improve, the writer must expand their working vocabulary, pay closer attention to word formation and spelling accuracy, and strive for more natural phrasing suitable for academic or formal general contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures such as relative clauses and subordinate clauses, as seen in sentences starting with 'To explain this, nowadays masses doing a lot of hardwork...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and sentence structure, such as missing verbs ('masses doing'), awkward prepositional usage, and issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation, particularly in the integration of citations. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to increase grammatical control, ensure complete and accurate clause structures, and reduce errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation.
