Student answer (Band 6.5)
There are 7 billion people with different culture, background cast and race on this planet Earth. Few people have a similar habits and point of view during their entire life but, I have seen people changing them for their better future and peace of mind as they grow old. Some of those habits could be getting into shape or a new year resolution and the opinions change ass the age of puberty has passed long back and people start thinking rationally and not on the face value of it
I agree to the point that, its common for the masses to change their habit for a larger good they see in it, Couple of my friends were into smoking and consuming alcohol every weekend, but as they grew older the responsibilities for family also grew, slowly and steadily they started skipping the habit of smoke and alcohol to channelize that money into investment and grocery shopping. Another personal example is of mine, who took a new year resolution of addressing my procrastinating habit of skipping the gym. From this year as I turned 34, I started focusing on my body equally to work. Due to long working schedules and deadlines, the physical habit was often overlooked and neglected. last year I stated following ikigai technique of starting small and maintaining the consistency of my workout. Form this year when I saw I was able to get consistent in my home workouts, I joined the gym and now log off from my work and hit the gym sharp 7pm in the evening.
I am also in the agreement of the fact that the opinions change as we grow older. While we are young the opinions are made on the information available to us at the face value and its easy to follow and accept what the masses are communicating to the young generations. As we grow older, people tend to validate the facts and information provided to them via news, social media or verbal interactions, which is important in this ever changing world. While validating the source, you come across things that were hidden or it could be seen that critical information was not shared to reached to genuine opinion. Once you see the clear picture, you tend to change the opinion which once you had in the past. Consider an example of oil being the only source of energy to the world. My brother was in support of this argument when he was doing his petroleum engineering and also defended risky fracking technique to extract the crude oil, as the infrastructure is available, demand is growing and it helps people employed over the years. but with recent wars across the global his opinion has changed and he has agreed to the fact that the world needs a alternative to this single energy source of the world whose prices are fluctuated by the global leaders and instability due to the war
With this we can conclude that, if you are dedicated and think out of the box you can change you habits for your betterment and also if given all the information and critical thinking, over the period of experience and exposure to real life situations, opinions can also be changed even though you had a rigid mindset during you young age

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position throughout that both habits and opinions change as people age. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant personal and observed examples, such as friends quitting smoking and drinking, the writer adopting the 'ikigai' technique for going to the gym, and a brother's shift in perspective on crude oil due to global conflicts. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in the introduction and conclusion, and some arguments could be explored with even greater depth to push into higher bands. Overall, the main stance is well-maintained and supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout, fully satisfying the requirements of the lower band while showing elements of the next. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as habits versus opinions. Cohesive devices like 'while we are young', 'as we grow older', and 'consider an example of' are used to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing is occasionally a bit mechanical or imprecise, such as in the transition 'With this we can conclude that', which prevents the cohesion from being entirely seamless or flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'procrastinating', 'channelize', 'rationality', and 'fracking technique'. There is a sufficient range to allow for some flexibility and precision, yet occasional errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation persist—for example, writing 'cast' instead of 'caste', 'ass the age' instead of 'as the age', 'to reached' instead of 'to reach', and 'a alternative' instead of 'an alternative'. These errors do not impede communication, placing the vocabulary firmly at the six level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('with recent wars across the global'), incorrect prepositions ('in the agreement'), and comma splices in longer sentences. These grammatical slips occur regularly enough to prevent a higher rating, but they rarely impede communication. The presence of these frequent minor errors aligns closely with a mid-level performance, where control over complex structures is still developing.
