Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by taking a clear position that habits and opinions change with age, which you support with relevant ideas. However, some aspects of the task are developed more fully than others. For example, your exploration of childhood habits is reasonably clear, but the supporting examples remain somewhat general rather than fully extended. To reach the next level, you need to ensure that every main idea is backed up with more specific explanations and fully developed examples throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding statement. You make use of standard cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'For example' to link ideas. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is occasionally disrupted by mechanical referencing, such as when pronouns like 'they' and 'he' are used confusingly to refer back to singular subjects like 'a child' or 'a person'. To improve, you should refine your paragraph transitions and ensure that referencing is always precise and clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'peer pressure' and 'adverse consequences'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'repeadly', 'suggestions' instead of opinions, 'completly', and 'sustanable'. These errors, alongside issues with word form like 'awearness', occasionally create some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, you must expand your lexical range and focus on accurate spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of structures, featuring a mix of simple sentences and attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. You make several grammatical errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'seventy percent people habbits are' and 'in his young age'. While the meaning can usually be understood, these frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, you need to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentence structures and exercise greater control over basic grammatical rules.
