Student answer (Band 6.0)

As individuals get older, it is quite common to experience a change in their habits and perceptions . I agree with the statement because their responsibilities increase with age and they gain experience as they get older.

Increasing responsibilites is one of the reasons why viewpoints and habits of people change as they get older. When humans enter in parenthood, they have to look after their children, and they do need to think according to their family, but this was not the case when they were young. When taking an important decision, they not only have to think about themselves but also their families as it would affect them too. For instance, when individuals marry and have children, they might think to quit smoking because if something terrible happens to their health, their families can struggle both financially and emotionally.

Experience about different aspects of life grows according to age. Older people tend to be more experienced than younger ones because they have seen ups and downs in their career, which can shape the way they think about the world. Experiencing different things not only makes them wiser but also helps in responsible decision-making. For instance, young freshers in companies do not know their market value, whereas an experienced professional knows what their worth is.

To conclude, I believe point of views and habits get changed when humans' age increases because responsibilities are directly propotional to age and experience modifies their habits and thinking as more number of years added to their name.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, which is a strong characteristic of higher band levels. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as how increased responsibilities and accumulated life experience drive changes in habits and opinions. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, while the example regarding quitting smoking due to family obligations is relevant, the exploration of how general opinions shift over time could be expanded further. The development shows a solid attempt to cover the prompt thoroughly, fulfilling the requirements for a sound response while indicating room for fuller extension of supporting arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct central topic, such as responsibilities or life experience. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitional phrases and referencing are not always handled with complete fluency; for example, phrases like 'To conclude, I believe point of views and habits get changed when humans' age increases because responsibilities are directly propotional to age...' rely on repetitive patterns and slightly awkward transitions, indicating that cohesive devices could be managed more flexibly to achieve a smoother flow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'perceptions', 'freshers', and 'market value'. There are, however, some word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as writing 'Entering in parenthood' instead of 'entering parenthood', and 'point of views' instead of 'points of view'. Additionally, minor spelling slips like 'propotional' appear. These lexical errors do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout, aligning well with the expectations for vocabulary performance at this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct compound and multi-clause sentences, such as 'When individuals marry and have children, they might think to quit smoking because if something terrible happens to health...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('When humans enter in parenthood') and minor prepositional inaccuracies, but these errors rarely impede communication. The majority of simple structures are accurate, and control over sentence boundaries is sufficient to ensure the reader can follow the argument without significant difficulty.
