Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many individuials change their habits and opinions as they grow old. In my perspective, I agree with this opinion because with the passage of time human mantality change. They do different things in old age that they done in their young age.

To commence with, people change their habits and its because of two factos. First is their interest and sceond is their enery. when people young they were energetic and had heavy hobbies. But they lost their interset when they grow old becuase of less energy. For instance, My grandmother like to did crochet. she did it daily and spend alot of time on this hobby. But she changed her hobby with passage of time because of her weak eyesight and backbone pain. These are the symptoms of old age. Thus age automatiocally creat a change in hobbies.

Furthermore, opinion also changed due to age factor. when people are young they are heatlhy and have more ideas. So they do what they want without thinking about results. On the other hand, when people getting old they become more wise and optimistic. At this point their opinion change from the younger. For example , In my neibourhood a old citizen live and they always have a conflict between their opinion and their son. sometime I go to resolve their problem. Thus mind changes with times even they refuse to accept that opinion which they had did when they were young.

IN conclusion, mindset and hobbies are change with time. people totally change their opinion to take decisions or about other things. Habits change their way. Age has a lot of effect on human's mantality and working.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether people change their habits and opinions as they age, supporting the view with reasons and personal examples. The ideas are generally relevant, fulfilling the main requirements, but some parts are underdeveloped or lack depth. For instance, the discussion on how opinions change relies on a vague neighborhood anecdote rather than exploring deeper psychological or sociological shifts. While the stance is maintained throughout the essay, the development of arguments tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive, preventing the response from reaching a higher level of elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the body paragraphs are separated into distinct topics regarding habits and opinions. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Cohesive devices and transition markers such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'IN conclusion' are used to structure the text, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun confusion in sentences like 'Habits change their way'. Paragraphing is present and logically organises the main points, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother and more logically connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to discuss ageing, habits, and opinions. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'optimistic', 'backbone pain', and 'mantality', but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling. Examples include spelling errors like 'individuials', 'mantality', 'factos', 'sceond', 'enery', 'interset', 'heatlhy', and 'neibourhood', alongside awkward word forms like 'old age that they done' and 'automatiocally'. These lexical inaccuracies and persistent spelling mistakes are noticeable and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the criteria for this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, there is a limited range of control over complex structures, and many attempts contain frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors such as 'human mantality change', tense inconsistencies like 'when people young they were energetic', incorrect verb forms like 'My grandmother like to did crochet', and missing articles or pluralisation errors. These frequent grammatical errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning of the arguments usually remains clear.
