Student answer (Band 5.5)

Well, as people are getting older, their prefernce also change. Today, this essay will discusse a debutfully topic that by the time people not only change their habits but also change their opinions. i am also agree with this point of view because as people are getting older they become more mature and certains about the things.

First of all, if we took about the food preference, at the younger age they like to eat spice or fast-food mostly but as they get older there prefernce change for the food. To elborate more, when people are their younger age they do not like to eat home-made food instead they want to eat more fast-food. And when they get older they more like to eat food at home. A survey took place where they show the report that people likely to change their habit as they are getting mature.

Secondly, people also like to change their prefernce and opinion such as clothing or colour opinion. For example, at the younger age most of the girl liks pink color whereas the boys like blue color but as they got older their color perfernce also change. Apart from it, people also become more mature. For example, during the child phase they do not like to share anything although the teacher and parents teach them "sharing is caring" but still they do not like it but as they get older they like to share with other which shows how people chage their habits.

To conclude, it is a naturelly that people change as they get older regardless how much they like certain things in their younger age they eventually change as they are getting mature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people change as they grow older, and you address both habits and opinions. The examples about food choices, colour preferences and sharing are relevant, so the response answers the main question. However, the two main points are not developed equally or fully. The food example explains a possible change from fast food to home cooking, but the claim about a survey is vague and gives no details. The colour example is also general, and it does not clearly show how opinions change. Develop each point with a specific explanation or personal example, and distinguish more clearly between changing habits and changing opinions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” help the reader follow the main stages. Within the paragraphs, however, connections can feel mechanical, particularly through repeated “as they get older” and “For example.” Some references are also unclear: “they show the report” does not identify who conducted the survey, while “which shows how people change their habits” follows several ideas and could refer to more than one point. Use clearer links between each example and the claim it supports, and vary transitions while keeping the progression explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “food preference,” “fast-food,” “mature,” and “share.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “debutfully topic,” “certain about the things,” “food preference change,” and “color opinion.” Repetition of “preference,” “change,” and “older” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise expressions, such as “dietary habits,” “develop more considered views,” and “colour preferences,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations and a wider range of relevant vocabulary would make your meaning clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “although,” which allows you to explain reasons and examples. Some sentence patterns communicate the intended meaning, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction recur. For instance, “their preference also change” needs subject–verb agreement, and “when they get older they more like to eat food at home” is missing a verb structure. The opening also shifts awkwardly between “people are getting older” and “their preference … change.” Practise building accurate complex sentences, especially with time clauses, and check agreement and complete verb phrases before submitting.
