Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that people’s habits and opinions change with age, and you give relevant reasons involving experience, responsibilities and priorities. The examples about young people spending time on social media and adults adopting more organised routines help connect the discussion to everyday life. However, the ideas are only partly developed. For instance, the claim that young people “do not think wisely” is broad and would be stronger with a specific explanation or example; the point about influence from friends and “virtual word heroes” is also not fully explored. The response is 2 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each reason with a clearer example and explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally group related ideas, and linking expressions such as “Secondly,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The first paragraph moves from maturity to exercise, social media and employment without clearly explaining how each point connects. Some links are also awkward or repetitive, including “Although, when the get old” and the repeated use of “when they get.” Improve cohesion by organising each paragraph around one main reason, then explaining it and giving a relevant example. Use pronouns and transitions carefully so relationships between ideas remain clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “responsibilities,” “life experiences,” “long-term consequences” and “healthier and more organised routines.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss change and maturity beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “quietly agree,” “increasing age,” “virtual word heroes” and “join corporation job.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “instanse,” “througout” and “open minded” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for describing changing beliefs and routines, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a clause beginning “when individuals are young.” However, errors occur frequently, and some sentences are difficult to process. For example, “as they grown old they encounter many incidents” has an incorrect verb form, while “when individuals are young they more influenced” is missing a verb. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and capitalization, as in the opening comma splice and lowercase “i” and sentence beginnings. The sentence “They become more open minded could different results” is incomplete and unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and complete clauses, then proofread punctuation and capitalization. Clearer, controlled sentences will make your ideas easier to understand.
