Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies the topic and signals a position with “I hold a different perception,” but the stance is difficult to interpret: the claim that older people’s thinking is “more mature” does not clearly answer whether people commonly change their habits and opinions as they age. The opening also says “while this may be true” without making clear which part of the prompt is being conceded. No reasons, relevant examples, or developed argument follow, so the task is addressed only minimally. The response is also 174 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain and support a position. To improve, state agreement or disagreement directly, then develop reasons and specific examples about changes in habits and opinions over time.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response as an introduction, using contrastive transitions such as “However” and “while.” This gives the reader some indication that a position is being introduced. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the contrast between older people becoming more mature and the claim that there are “other aspects” is not explained, and the response ends before any supporting paragraphs appear. The transitions therefore connect claims whose relationship remains unclear. The single paragraph also does not provide a structure for reasons or examples. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the position, each main reason, and the conclusion, and make each linking phrase express a clear relationship between developed ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts some topic-related vocabulary, including “way of thinking,” “perception,” “mature,” and “stance,” and uses contrastive language to introduce a viewpoint. However, several choices are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “thinking approach,” “popular believe,” and repeated references to “thinking.” Spelling and word-form errors in “beleive,” “beleives,” and “easy” also reduce accuracy and make the writing appear less controlled. The vocabulary is not yet precise enough to distinguish changes in habits from changes in opinions. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases, such as “change one’s outlook” and “adopt new routines,” and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a complex sentence with “as the people are getting older” and a contrastive clause beginning “while,” showing some willingness to use more than simple sentence patterns. However, control is inconsistent. For example, “as the people are getting older their way of thinking starts getting changed” has an awkward passive construction and unclear agreement, while “i hold a different perception …, the thinking approach…” joins clauses with a comma rather than a suitable sentence boundary. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, and the final “elder .while” has faulty spacing and punctuation. Practise forming clear subject–verb patterns and separating complete clauses with a full stop or an appropriate conjunction. Proofreading sentence boundaries and capital letters would make the argument easier to follow.
