Student answer (Band 5.0)

yes ! i totally agree with this statement of people changing their habits and opinions with the aging, because i personally experienced that.Once when i was in my early teenage ,i used to belive that one should must be humble and kind to everyone evenn if someone does bad to you, but later on this beleive of mine changed automatically. One should be humble and kind but to a limitation, one should not ignore his self respect, just for the others.TTreate everyone as the treate you because everyone in this world knows what he os she is doing , either thats a bad or a good thing, either he is hurting someone or not.So by my observation , the people who is not giving you the same attention, respect or care then you shpuld also not be condsidering him very much.Just leave him to a time and he will see the difference in your treatement if he is bothered he will definetely be discussing that with you ,and if he is not then it means that you was just wasting your in a wrong place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion from the outset—“i totally agree”—and provide a personal example of how your view of kindness and self-respect changed as you grew older. This is relevant to the question and shows how opinions can develop with age. However, the response addresses the topic only partially: it focuses on one change in opinion and does not explain changes in habits, or give a second reason or example. The main idea about treating others according to how they treat you is repeated rather than fully explained. The response is also 70 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop your position. To strengthen the answer, discuss both habits and opinions and extend each point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable progression: you state your agreement, describe an earlier belief, and explain how your view changed. Phrases such as “but later on” and “So by my observation” attempt to connect the stages of your explanation. However, the ideas are presented as one long block, with no paragraphing, and the extended final sentence makes the relationship between points difficult to follow. Several ideas about respect, attention, and how others treat you are joined together without clear separation, while “either…either” is used repetitively. Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for your reasons or examples, and a conclusion. Use linking expressions selectively and make each sentence develop one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “humble,” “kind,” “self respect,” “attention,” and “care,” which helps communicate your personal example. There is also an attempt to express a more nuanced view through “to a limitation.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “kind,” “respect,” and “treat.” Spelling errors such as “belive,” “beleive,” and “definetely,” along with awkward choices such as “wasting your in a wrong place,” sometimes make the message harder to understand. Build a wider range for discussing personal development, and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe a belief as “revised” and say that someone “invested time in an unreciprocated relationship.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas using clauses and conditional language, as in “if someone does bad to you” and “if he is bothered he will…,” but the response relies heavily on long, joined sentences. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms frequently affect clarity. For example, “one should must be humble” combines two modal verbs, and “the people who is not giving you” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Treat everyone as the treat you” is also difficult to interpret because its clause structure is incomplete. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and few clear sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
