Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often claimed that when individuals grow up they change their customs and views.

Although it is not true for some people, I believe that not all people change their minds when they get older because it depends on the experience they leaen during their life and the personality they have.

One major reason for my position is that majorty of people when they work or study they learn and get knowledge during this period of time. This is mainly because individuals who work or study can learn and get benefits from others experience. For example, working at a company or studying at a university may provide people with different views, particularly after engaging with people from different cultures. Many students work or study abroad, leading to wider experience. This means that during our life cycle, humans personality may be influenced by others. Consequently, this can have a significant impact on our decisions and opinions.

Another important reason for my position is that many people have introvert personality. If person decided to not engage with others, people would not have able to communicate with this person easily. As a result, he will not be effected by others habits or opinions. By not making relations with people from different cultures, people will not learn anything from others. As a result, this can have a major effect on their minds.

In conclusion, I partialy agree with view that people change their traditions and views by time because it depends on the knowledge they learn and the personality they have. Therefore, people should be opened to other cultures to learn from them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is identifiable: you partly agree that people’s habits and opinions change with age, and you explain that experience and personality influence this process. The examples about studying or working with people from different cultures are relevant and show how views can be affected. However, the response does not fully resolve the tension between the claim that people change and your statement that “not all people change their minds.” The introvert paragraph mainly explains why some people may not change, while the conclusion recommends openness to other cultures; these points could be connected more directly to changes in habits as well as opinions. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example to make your position more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from experience and learning to personality, and signposts such as “One major reason,” “Another important reason” and “In conclusion” help the reader follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the first paragraph moves from work and study to studying abroad and then to personality without fully explaining each link. In the second paragraph, “As a result” is repeated, and the reference to “this person” is not always clear. Use fewer repeated transitions and make the relationship between each example and your main claim explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “different cultures,” “significant impact,” “decisions and opinions” and “introvert personality,” which allows you to discuss the topic clearly. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “It is often claimed.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “learn and get benefits from others experience” is awkward, and “during our life cycle” is not a natural way to describe personal development. Spelling errors such as “leaen,” “majorty” and “partialy” also affect accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “gain insights from other people’s experiences” and “over the course of life.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If person decided to not engage with others” and clauses beginning with “because” and “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in these longer structures. Examples include the missing article in “If person,” the incorrect construction “people would not have able to communicate,” and the tense shift from “people” to “he will not be effected.” There are also agreement and possessive issues in “humans personality may be influenced.” Practise forming conditionals accurately and maintaining consistent subjects and tenses. More reliable control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures clearer.
