Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has become increasingly common for people to shift their habits and thoughts while getting older. I also agree with this view.

One main reason why people change their habits is beacuse of responsibilities that they have later in their lives. When people get older, they have responsibilities to raise their families and fulfill their demands, these all commitments insist them to change their habits with time. In addition, sometimes, people have to change their workplace environment beacuse when people get a new job, they have to fit in their coworkers and it may the requirement of the workplace. In this way, they have to leave their past habits in order to manage everything in an appropriate way.

Maturity can be the another reason of changing opinion of people. Maturity comes with age, so people, who get older, have a considerable amount of experience and ability, which help them to judge the difference between right and wrong. In this way, they become able to take the right decision and they start state their opinions according to the reality.

Some people change their habits to improve their situation. Sometimes, people may addict with wrong habbits, such as eating unhealthy food, spending time in front of screen, playing online games, which can create some serious health issues among them. To overcome these problems, they start their habits that help them lead to healthy life style.

In conclusion, I still believe that with growing age, people start changing their habits and thought because of responsibilities, maturity and to improve their health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening—“I also agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both habits and opinions, giving relevant reasons: family responsibilities and work can alter habits, while maturity can change people’s views. The health example adds another relevant explanation. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the discussion of maturity explains how experience affects judgement, yet gives no specific example of an opinion changing. The workplace point is also asserted rather than illustrated. To strengthen the response, explain one concrete change in belief or behaviour and show how it results from the reason you identify.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Paragraphs generally focus on one main idea, and signposts such as “In addition,” “In this way,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some links feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear. For example, the sentence about responsibilities combines raising a family, meeting demands, and changing habits without clearly showing how each leads to a change. The health paragraph also shifts from harmful habits to “start their habits” without a clear transition. Use more precise referencing and explain the connection between each example and its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “responsibilities,” “maturity,” “considerable amount of experience,” and “health issues.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there is some attempt to use topic-related language. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “fulfill their demands,” “fit in their coworkers,” “addict with wrong habbits,” and “healthy life style.” “Thought” in the conclusion is also less suitable than “opinions” in this context. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. A wider range of precise expressions would help you explain changes in habits and beliefs more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “when,” “which,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some sentence patterns are controlled, such as “Maturity comes with age, so people… have a considerable amount of experience.” However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms remain noticeable. For example, “One main reason… is beacuse of responsibilities” needs a clearer structure, while “these all commitments insist them to change” has problems with clause construction and verb pattern. “It may the requirement” is missing a verb, and “they start state their opinions” has an incorrect verb form. Review sentence boundaries, verb patterns, and articles, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete.
