Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is certainly true that changing habits and their opinions is quite common for individuals getting old. I strongly endorse the given statement and the argument supporting my contention will be discussed in the following paragraphs.

The first and the foremost reason for this phenomenon is new life experiences. As people encountered numerous difficult sitautions when getting older which change their prespecive of thinking and habits. As their priorities change which automatticaly affects their old habits. For exampe, childern often have habits like playing video game which later change in adulthood due to age factor. Moreover, influence of society also play crucial role in changing old habits. Thus, it is widely normal to change habits due to the life experiences and society influence.

Furthermore, busy lifestyle is another reason for change in habits and believe of people. As getting older often bring new reponsibilities such as taking care of family and friends which bring shortage of time to persue the old habits. Also, modern technology keep people more engaged and busy. Two wide ranging surveys carried out in Spain in 2017 revealed that 41 percent of people completely stop the past habits due to the shortage of time. Hence, fast pace of life and increased responsibilites change the old ideas and hobbies.

In conclusion, not only life experiences in old age but also busy lifestyle in modern world changes people habits and their opinions. it fully agree with this as it is significant to change according to time and adapt to new things

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: “I strongly endorse the given statement,” and the conclusion again supports the view that people adapt as they age. You address both habits and opinions, giving relevant reasons such as new experiences, social influence, and increased responsibilities. The examples about children’s gaming habits and the survey help make the discussion relevant. However, the development is uneven: the first body paragraph explains how experience changes priorities, while the second focuses mainly on time and hobbies, with less explanation of how opinions change. The survey is also reported without explaining its source or connecting its finding clearly to opinions. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a specific explanation or example that directly supports both parts of the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Hence” help signal the progression of ideas, and the reader can follow the main argument. This is a sound foundation, though some connections feel mechanical or do not accurately express the relationship between ideas. For example, “As their priorities change which automatically affects their old habits” is not smoothly connected to the preceding sentence, and “Thus” introduces a broad summary rather than a clearly developed consequence. The conclusion repeats the main reasons but does not fully bring the discussion together. Use clearer sentence links and refer back to the central claim about both habits and opinions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “life experiences,” “priorities,” “responsibilities,” and “shortage of time.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “crucial role” and “wide-ranging surveys.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “sitautions,” “prespecive,” “automatticaly,” and “reponsibilities” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “society influence” and “change the old ideas.” These issues keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise and natural. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “the influence of society” and “change people’s attitudes.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “As” and the contrastive structure “not only…but also.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors occur across the response. For example, “As people encountered numerous difficult situations…which change…” is an incomplete construction with inconsistent tense, while “As their priorities change which automatically affects…” lacks a clear grammatical connection. There are also agreement and sentence-boundary problems, as in “busy lifestyle…bring” and the final “it fully agree.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and main verb, and check agreement and tense before adding subordinate clauses.
