Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although it has become very common for a signifcant number of people to change their habits and opinions as they get older because they get mature, I believe when people advance in age, they become addicted to their likes or dislikes, and it becomes difficult for them to change their habits.
To begin with, some people believe that it is very easy to change their habits and opinions when they grow older because of their enhanced maturity level. This is because when a person gets mature, they understand the importance of their behaviour and tend to behave according to the need. Furthermore, with time their preference change from personal to their families. For example, a person with high temperament changes his anger and start behaving calmly. As a result, he lives a stress-free life with his family.
However, I personally believe that when a person carries same behaviour for years, they become addicted to it and tend to stuggle for changing their interests. Moreover, it has seen that due to their addiction, people join meditation classes for their addictive behaviour. Additionally, if they carry a positive habit such as playing sports, they may start a new career. For example, a child who used to play cricket may carry it even when they mature. As a result, he may be selected for an international cricket team to persue his carrier.
To conclude, Although some people find it easy to change their habits when they age, I believe it may be difficult for most of the people to change their behaviour with time. This is because, once a person lives with a same opinion for years, they often struggle to change or alter it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you mainly disagree, arguing that habits and opinions become difficult to change with age. You also acknowledge the opposing view that maturity can encourage change, so the response addresses both sides of the question. The examples about controlling anger and continuing to play cricket are relevant, and the conclusion restates your view. However, some ideas are not fully explained. The claim that people join meditation classes because of addiction is unclear, and the cricket example shows persistence in a hobby more than difficulty changing an opinion. Develop each example by explicitly linking it to your argument and explain more precisely how age affects the likelihood of change.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on one side of the discussion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the progression. Some connections are less clear, though. In the second body paragraph, the move from addiction to meditation classes and then to a positive sporting habit feels abrupt, because the examples do not clearly build one line of reasoning. The repeated use of “As a result” also makes cohesion somewhat mechanical. Use fewer formulaic transitions and add explicit links explaining how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “maturity,” “preference,” “behaviour,” “addiction,” and “interests.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, but some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “enhanced maturity level,” “addicted to their likes or dislikes,” and “carry a positive habit.” There are also spelling errors, including “signifcant,” “stuggle,” and “persue,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording: for example, describe people as “becoming set in their ways” rather than addicted to preferences. Proofread spelling carefully, and avoid repeating broad terms such as “change” and “behaviour” when a more specific alternative is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “although,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors occur in verb agreement and forms: “their preference change” should be “their preferences change,” while “changes his anger and start behaving” needs parallel verb forms. Other examples include “when a person gets mature,” “a person carries same behaviour,” and “a same opinion,” where the sentence patterns or article use are inaccurate. Capitalisation after “Although” in the conclusion and punctuation around introductory clauses also need attention. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and consistent verb forms, then check each sentence for a complete, natural grammatical structure.
