Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people’s habits and opinions change with age, and both body paragraphs offer relevant reasons. The gambling example shows how a costly mistake can alter someone’s views, while the smoking example links later health consequences to changing habits. These examples make the response relevant, but the explanation is uneven: the first paragraph focuses mainly on learning from mistakes, and the second describes health risks without clearly showing how age itself prompts people to change. The conclusion repeats your position but adds little development. To strengthen the response, explain more explicitly how growing older leads to reflection or changed priorities, and extend each example to show that process clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the examples are placed under relevant main ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The repeated opening phrases “This is because” and “For example” make the links feel mechanical, while “this is the reason for people change their opinions” does not clearly connect the example to the general claim. The transition “On the one hand” also suggests a contrast, but no contrasting side follows. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s point, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence. More precise referencing and a wider range of natural linking expressions would make the overall organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “addicted,” “detrimental,” “diagnosed” and “financial safety,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For instance, “change their future thoughts” is unclear, “smoking plays a detrimental effect” is not a natural expression, and “change their way of living and thought process” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “enhace,” “revelant,” “Futhermore” and “cigrattes” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing changing attitudes and habits, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your ideas are expressed more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “which.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “Mistakes plays,” “a important role,” and “everyone is doing mistakes”; these should use correct agreement, article choice and verb patterns. The sentence beginning “This is because individuals start smoking…” also shifts awkwardly between present and past time, and several sentences run together after full stops or begin with lowercase letters. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense narration, and separate complete sentences with appropriate punctuation. Greater control of these patterns would make your meaning clearer.
