Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has become quite prevalent for people to alter their behaviour as well as their viewpoints as they age.I completely agree with the given statement and shall explain the above statement with credible examples.

One of the most significant reasons for an individuals changing viewpoints and habits is the changing environment at different stages of their life. An individual in a university will act differently then working at an office due to dynamic environment which constantly challenges their opinion and habits. For instance, children in school will develop habit of being together with peers, developing bonds with each other but their opinion and habits change dramitically as they get older.

Another reason for changing perspective with growing experience comes with age. As a person grows they become more ambitious, responsible, resilient to face consequences which are necessary traits for survival and stabilty in future. In addition, transitioning habits and opinions with growing age is very useful to become successful in life as such qualities are crucial for personal and professional growth. For instance, growing experience as a person get older, shapes their habits and opinions which teaches them to overcome fears and challenges in personal as well as professional lives.

To sum up, due to dynamic environmental changes as well as experience reforms an individuals habits and viewpoints to become an expertise in both personal and professional lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: “I completely agree,” and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons—changing environments and gaining experience. The university-to-workplace example is connected to the first reason, while the discussion of responsibility and resilience relates to growing older. However, these ideas are not developed evenly: the school example is brief, and the second paragraph makes broad claims about success without showing in detail how a particular habit or opinion changes. The conclusion restates the main point but adds little. The response also falls 22 words short of the required minimum, so there is limited space to explain and support your ideas. Develop one specific example further and make the link to your position explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a concluding summary. The progression from environmental change to experience is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Another reason,” “In addition,” and “To sum up” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs are not always connected precisely. For example, the school example moves from forming bonds to changing opinions without explaining the relationship. The final sentence also compresses several ideas into an unclear summary. Use clearer references and develop each example in sequence rather than relying mainly on transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “viewpoints,” “dynamic environment,” “resilient,” and “personal and professional growth.” These choices show an attempt to use less common language, and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “an expertise” does not fit the intended meaning, and “experience reforms an individuals habits” is not a natural way to express the idea. There are also spelling errors such as “dramitically” and “stabilty.” Aim for precise, natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully. Reusing a few accurate terms is preferable to choosing more ambitious expressions that do not fit their context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including explanations with “due to” and clauses beginning with “which.” Most of the message can be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “an individuals changing viewpoints” needs a possessive form, and “then working at an office” uses the wrong comparative connector. In “as a person get older,” the verb does not agree with its subject; the final sentence also has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Punctuation is occasionally missing, notably the space after the first sentence’s full stop. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, possessives, and sentence boundaries, while keeping complex sentences manageable.
