Student answer (Band 6.0)

One of the most conspicuous trends of today's globalized world is, to change the perception and the things people used to do before and now are different. In my opinion, nowadays, it is normal due to several factors contribute to do so.

The most preponderant one is that, when people are in the phase of childhood, they are too naive and novice to understand the reality of life, life lessons and bitter truth of life. as a result, they can easily be misguided and misled. such as, if individuals are not aware of adverse effect of addictions such as drinking alcohol, chewing tobacco and smoking weed, they could put their life in danger eventually at the end.

Secondly, as persons get older and aged as days pass, they become wise, intelligent and knowledgable. For children to take things for granted is very common as they have either less or no responsibilities to look after. However, as people become more experienced and mature, they start feeling being responsible and valueing the things.

furthermore, people are living a fast-paced life in which they never want to be left behind their fellow competitors so if in case, they never used to operate any modern gadgets in past, they would love to use it nowadays. for example, fifty years back, people were not having sufficient knowledge about computers but today they would try to learn all the features of it to be more competible with younger generation.

In conclusion, it is very difficult to change views and the things which people are habituated of but it seems normal to change it as time goes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people commonly change as they age, and you give relevant reasons involving greater maturity, responsibility and adapting to technology. The examples about avoiding addictive substances and learning to use computers help illustrate these points. However, the discussion of childhood naivety focuses more on why young people may make poor choices than on how their habits or opinions later change. The technology example is relevant but would be stronger if you explained how an older person’s earlier attitude or routine shifts. The conclusion also introduces the idea that change is difficult, which is not fully reconciled with your agreement. Develop each reason more directly around changes in both habits and opinions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate supporting points and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Secondly,” “furthermore” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, some links are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from childhood naivety to addiction without explicitly connecting this to later changes in habits or opinions. The final paragraph’s claim that change is difficult also sits uneasily beside the essay’s main position. Improve cohesion by using topic sentences that directly state each reason and by adding clear explanations between examples and the central argument. Consistent paragraphing and capitalization would also make the organisation more polished.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt less common expressions, including “conspicuous trends,” “adverse effect,” “fast-paced life” and “responsibilities.” These choices show ambition, and the meaning is generally understandable. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “preponderant one,” “valueing the things,” “operate any modern gadgets” and “more competible.” There are also spelling errors, including “knowledgable.” These do not usually prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for clear, idiomatic phrasing rather than choosing elaborate words that do not fit the context. For instance, “main reason,” “appreciate what they have” and “use modern devices” would express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “when,” “as” and “if,” and most of your meaning can be followed. However, some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles and punctuation remain. The opening phrase “One of the most conspicuous trends … is, to change” is not grammatically complete, while “several factors contribute to do so” uses an incorrect verb pattern. In “people were not having sufficient knowledge,” the tense and construction are awkward; “people did not have sufficient knowledge” is more accurate. Several sentences also begin with lowercase letters after full stops, and commas are sometimes placed where they interrupt the sentence. Review clause structure and verb patterns, then proofread for sentence boundaries and capitalization.
