Student answer (Band 6.0)
As we age it is usually very hard to change the habits than the opinions as we get older . I partially agree to the statement as there are many researches and the theories when we talk about the habits. One of the major reason of the change in opinion is that we can know variety of things due to internet usage and it is just a click away to the encyclopedia of almost anything. Thus, we can be thorough with it and have different opinions about.
In Contemprory era, the usage of the digital gadgets have been increasing. This in turn, has a surge in the information we consume on daily basis. Hence, becoming post-literrate in the terms of data intake, people have knowledge in each and every area of the life. For instance, the opinion of phone usage at night time is beneficial or not. People have different opinion of this statement and inspite of knowing the answer very well , it is extremely hard for changing the habit of phone usage before bed time.
In addition to, there has been various studies on neuroscience as well , that changing habits as we age is more difficult than in the younger age. We tend to stick on the old habit rather than changing it as we are used to the comfort of the habit even if its bad.
Ultimately, it is easier to change the opinion as we age because we tend to have more experience and knowledge , yet that does not guarantee change in the habits. To change habit one may need more determination and decisiveness from my point of view than merely changing the opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you partly agree, arguing that opinions can change with experience and information, while habits are harder to alter. The phone-use-before-bed example is relevant and helps illustrate the contrast. You also address both habits and opinions, so the response covers the task. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the reference to research on neuroscience, for example, is not supported with a specific finding or example, and the opening comparison is difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how age or experience changes opinions, and develop the habit argument with a concrete personal or everyday example. This would make the reasoning more consistently convincing and fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Its progression from changing opinions to the difficulty of changing habits is generally logical, and signposts such as “For instance,” “In addition,” and “Ultimately” help guide the reader. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening sentence is hard to interpret, and “In addition to” does not introduce the next point grammatically; the transition from digital information to being “post-literate” also feels abrupt. Referencing such as “this statement” is not always specific enough. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly to the claim it supports. This would preserve the sound overall organisation while making cohesion more flexible and natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “determination,” “decisiveness,” “neuroscience,” and “experience.” These choices help express the contrast between opinions and habits, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more sophisticated phrasing, but some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “a surge in the information,” “thorough with it,” and “comfort of the habit.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “Contemprory,” “post-literrate,” and “opinion” where a plural is intended, reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, say “a rise in the amount of information” and “become familiar with it.” More precise phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “as we age,” “even if,” and “because,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “it is usually very hard to change the habits than the opinions” uses an incorrect comparison structure, while “the usage of the digital gadgets have been increasing” has subject–verb disagreement. Other examples include “there has been various studies” and “it is extremely hard for changing,” where agreement and verb-pattern choices need correction. Punctuation spacing and comma placement are also inconsistent. Practise accurate comparisons, agreement with singular and plural subjects, and verb patterns such as “hard to change.” This would improve reliability while retaining your range of sentence forms.
