Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that people's habits and opinions change as they grow older. While I acknowledge that this is largely true due to life experiences and maturity, I believe some core values tend to remain the same throughout life .
One of the major reasons for this shift is the increase in responsibilities, as the individuals have to take care of their family. Therefore, their perspective towards certain opinions changed. For instance, value for money increases over time as children do not know how money is earned, so they overspend money and do not think about the future. However, once they start earning and supporting family, they become more careful and begin to save for rainy days.
Nevertheless, despite their age some core values remain unchanged throughout their entire life, such as honesty, determination, respect, traditions and values learnt from parents. For instance, individuals learn to be honest to their parents and teachers due their early stage of life and this value remain until they die as this does not change with the age or any circumstances
Additionally, some values and traditions are passed down for generations remain unchanged with age as individuals learn to respect family traditions and culture. For Instance, In some parts of India, people touch the feet of elder as a sign of respect and they continue this tradition throughout the lives, regardless of age.
To recapitulate, although with growing age some practices and perspectives change due to the responsibility and certain health conditions, core values such as honesty and traditions remain the same throughout a person's life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that habits and opinions can change with age, while arguing that some core values remain stable. The discussion of financial responsibility supports the first point, and the examples of honesty and the Indian tradition of touching elders’ feet support the second. This addresses the task and gives relevant reasons, with some personal or cultural illustration. However, the response focuses more on values and opinions than on habits, and the point about health conditions in the conclusion is not developed earlier. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how particular habits change over time and connect each example explicitly to your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, body paragraphs present reasons and examples, and the conclusion restates the main argument. Transitions such as “Nevertheless,” “Additionally,” and “To recapitulate” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, the progression is not always smooth: the paragraph beginning “Nevertheless” shifts from opinions to values, and the next paragraph repeats the idea that traditions remain unchanged. Some references are also unclear, particularly “this value” after a list of several values. Grouping related points more tightly and using clearer links between changing habits, opinions, and enduring values would make the argument more cohesive and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “responsibilities,” “perspective,” “core values,” “passed down,” and “regardless of age.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the examples are generally easy to understand. There are also some imprecise or unnatural expressions, such as “value for money increases over time” where you mean that people become more careful with money, and “supporting family,” which would be clearer as “supporting their family.” “Practices and perspectives” in the conclusion is broad and could be made more specific. Aim for precise collocations and avoid repeating “values” and “traditions” when a more exact term would clarify the point.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in the introduction (“While I acknowledge…”) and a reason clause beginning “as.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “their perspective … changed” needs a consistent tense (“changes”), and “this value remain” requires subject–verb agreement (“this value remains”). The phrase “due their early stage of life” is missing a preposition, while “people touch the feet of elder” needs an article and plural form. Punctuation is also inconsistent, including a missing full stop at the end of the honesty example. Check agreement, articles, and sentence endings carefully, while continuing to use varied sentence forms.
