Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that commonly people change their habits and opinion as they become old.I am totally agree with this fact as with growing older people often change their habits to make their life more comfortable and better which i will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, in young age, people often donot focus on their eating habits and later on this affect their lifestyle. As being young, a person have good digestive system which help a person to digest everything and they end up eating whatever they like but later on these things affect their health, so they are seem to follow a proper diet plan and follow healthy habits. To exemplify, according to a survey by University of Oxford, 78% of people change their eating habits as they get older so that they can live a healthy life and free of diseases.

To add on, it is often seem that old people change their opinion as they get older and this can be described with the help of a example, many women regret their opinion of getting dependent on their husband in early age and result in becoming housewives and caretaker for the family and achieving almost nothing in their life, and later in their life they seem to suggest their children to become independent so that they achieve everything in their and fulfil their dreams.

In conclusion, I would conclude that by saying that age is the factor which affect people opinion and habits as body undergoes a lot of changes with in change of age so it result to adapt the changes in the surrounding and ulitmately, because of this people change their habits and opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that people change their habits and opinions as they age. Both parts of the question are addressed, with relevant examples about adopting healthier eating habits and advising children to become independent. The Oxford survey is used to support the first point, while the example about women illustrates changing opinions. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the first example explains a cause and outcome, whereas the second makes a broad claim about women and could explain more precisely how experience changes their views. To strengthen the response, develop each example with a specific situation and connect it more explicitly to your overall argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “To add on” help readers follow the main points. However, some connections are mechanical, and several sentences contain multiple ideas joined by “and,” “but,” or “so,” making the progression harder to follow. In the second body paragraph, the shift from women’s regret to advice for their children would benefit from a clearer explanation of the relationship between these ideas. Use a wider range of linking methods, and make references such as “these things” more specific so the links between sentences are consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “eating habits,” “proper diet plan,” “healthy life,” “independent,” and “fulfil their dreams.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and phrases such as “digestive system” show an attempt to use more specific language. However, the range is limited in places, and some word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “commonly people,” “in young age,” and “achieving almost nothing in their life.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “ultimately” written as “ultitmately” and “opinion” where the plural is needed. Build a more precise range for discussing ageing and personal development, and check that words combine naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “which,” and “so that,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer sentences. Examples include “I am totally agree,” “a person have,” and “which help a person,” where verb forms or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “with growing older” and the opening sentence, which runs directly into the next without a space or clear punctuation. Some complex sentences become difficult to manage because several clauses are joined together. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and punctuation, then divide long sentences where needed.
