Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that people change their habits and opinions as they age. You also give relevant reasons, including adapting to technological and social development, and illustrate these with examples about people maintaining routines and those in their forties adopting newer lifestyles. However, the response only partly develops the question. The discussion focuses heavily on changing habits and adapting to modern life, while the reasons why opinions change with age are less clearly explained. Some claims, such as people changing because of the internet or becoming happier, are asserted rather than supported with a specific explanation. Develop each main reason with a clearer cause-and-effect link and a more precise example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally related to your position. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from traditional habits to development, technology and exposure without clearly separating these points. “On the other hand” also suggests a contrast, although the paragraph largely supports the same view. Some references, such as “these activity,” are unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one distinct reason, use transitions that accurately show the relationship between ideas, and make references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “traditional habits,” “daily routine,” “technology,” “lifestyle” and “generation’s thoughts.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited by repeated broad terms such as “habits,” “opinions” and “development,” and several word choices or combinations are unnatural, for example “different views for society,” “improving mindset” and “additional current generation’s thoughts.” Spelling errors such as “lifestly,” “becuase” and “meanaingful” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling; for instance, distinguish between changing a routine, adapting to social change and revising a viewpoint.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because” and “if,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. Examples include “everyone’s daily routine and thoughts shall change,” “if anyone who are following,” “habits and opinion … might needs to be develop,” and “people … are easily change.” These patterns can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb forms after modal verbs. For example, use “habits may need to develop” and “people can change their habits.”
