Student answer (Band 6.5)
I found it really interesting, how people change as they get older. I have seen a lot of people around myself doing different things and having a completely different opinion about something they said when they were young. I believe this how maturity hits or realisations happens at a particular point of life.
I would like to mention something my grandfather used to say; he absolutely hated internet. When I was a young, I used to spend time on phone watching youtube channels, and my grandpa used to scold me for wasting time. As he believed that the internet is going to ruin the young mindset as we are getting addicted to that. Years after, when I visited him recently I was stunned by seeing him with a smartphone in his hands with Instagram open and scrolling to reels.
On the other side, it also changed the way how he used to be. Like, he was more into farming and outdoors. Now, when I saw him, he was more into spend time indoors and scrolling through social medias. His whole habits changed but on the brighter side, I could say he is doing things better now. For instance, other than just doom scrolling he watches educative videos on farming and travellings. I believed that influenced him to start travelling at this age. He went for a trip to Goa with his friend a few months back which shooked me. He became more outgoing and happy after that trip. So, I strongly agree that people will change as they get older, their opinions will chnage and also their habits too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that people’s habits and opinions change with age. The grandfather example is relevant and extended, showing both his changed view of the internet and his shift from farming and outdoor activities to using social media and travelling. The details about educational farming videos and his trip to Goa help support your point rather than leaving it as a general claim. To strengthen the response further, explain more explicitly why age or maturity caused these changes, and develop the broader claim about opinions beyond your grandfather’s example. This would make the reasoning more consistently developed and avoid relying mainly on one personal illustration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall sequence: you introduce your view, give a personal example, then describe changes in your grandfather’s habits before concluding. Paragraphing also helps distinguish the introduction from the example. Some progression is already effective, particularly the contrast between his earlier dislike of the internet and his current use of Instagram. However, links sometimes feel mechanical or unclear. “On the other side” does not accurately signal the relationship between the ideas, and “Like” begins a fragment rather than a fully connected explanation. The final paragraph also moves quickly from social media to educational videos and travel. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each example explicit to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to describe the example, including phrases such as “completely different opinion,” “doom scrolling,” “outgoing,” and “maturity.” These choices make the account understandable and give it some personal detail. There are also several inaccurate or awkward word choices and forms that limit precision: “around myself” is unnatural, “educative videos” is not the usual collocation, and “travellings” is not the appropriate form here. Spelling slips such as “chnage” and “shooked” are noticeable. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your meaning sound more fluent and controlled without needing unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex structures, including a time clause in “when I visited him recently” and a contrast between his past and present habits. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I believe this how maturity hits” is missing a verb, while “As he believed that…” is an incomplete dependent clause. There are also errors in tense and agreement, such as “I believed that influenced him” and “realisations happens.” Articles and sentence construction need attention in “When I was a young” and “he was more into spend time indoors.” Practise building complete clauses and checking verb forms and agreement, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence structures.
