Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern era, with the influence of technology, it is very possible for an individual to have a change in their habits and opinions as they grow older. I strongly agree with the statement that people can have different opinions and habits at different ages.
To commence with, people get influenced by their surroundings all the time. A majority of people live with their families and have a very limited exposure to newer things and experiences. They start adapting the same habits their parents, siblings, or relatives have. However, once they start living to their own and exploring more. They start experiencing more activities which can result in a change of their old habits and opinions. For example, after moving to a new city or country, a person start cooking to their own which can become a new habit to them. As a result, after a certain age or experience people have different opinions and habits.
Moreover, people often change their social, political, and economical views based on the circumstances. A person start liking a political party because of a good leader but later on change the party because the leader changes. For instance, people vote for the different parties at different times after seeing their contributions to the nation. Thus, it is very likely that people can alter their choices, opinions, and habits when they get older.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that people change their habits and opinions based on their personal experiences and due to the effects of the outer world. New habits and results can be influenced by new workplace, city, or any changes in the surroundings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that habits and opinions can change with age. You address both parts of the topic and give relevant explanations, including how moving away from family can expose someone to new experiences and how political views may shift in response to a leader’s actions. These examples support your argument, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. The political example, for instance, focuses on changing party preference without showing clearly how this reflects getting older or changing opinions more broadly. Develop each main idea with a specific personal or realistic example and explain the link between age, experience, and change more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing expressions such as “To commence with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical, and the progression within the first body paragraph is interrupted by “However, once they start living to their own and exploring more,” which is not a complete sentence. The repeated use of “As a result” and “Thus” also makes the linking feel formulaic. Improve cohesion by joining related ideas smoothly, using clear references to earlier points, and varying transitions rather than relying mainly on signposting phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “surroundings,” “exposure,” “experiences,” “political views,” and “contributions.” This allows you to discuss both lifestyle and opinions, and your meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “living to their own,” “start cooking to their own,” and “economical views.” “New habits and results” is also unclear in the conclusion. These choices limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary, even though they do not prevent understanding. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check that each phrase expresses the intended meaning in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses introduced by “once,” “which,” and “because,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however. “Once they start living to their own and exploring more” is a sentence fragment, while “a person start” and “a person start liking” need subject–verb agreement. There are also article and number issues in phrases such as “a change in their habits” and “the different parties,” and the sentence beginning “For example, after moving…” shifts awkwardly between singular and plural subjects. Practise checking each sentence for a complete main clause, consistent subject–verb agreement, and accurate articles and plurals.
