Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, we have seen pupils changing their habits and their opinions as they get older as compared to past. I agree with this statement and believe that it is totally a good thing to do in life if people want to grow.
On one hand, people who are adapting the change in thier life are trying to improve his/her life. Pupils usually try to change thier habits to grow and develope new skills set, by adapting to change in thier opinions means they have learned many things while growing up and have more experienced it. Moreover, change is the best requisite to grown, as people get older they have either seen or faced many thing by which they are willng to change thier older version. For example, before coming to Canada, in my home country I never used to do any sort of exercise, but later on I realised that my physical health is so down and I started doing exercise regularly in Canada and I can see the improvement in my overall health. This one change in my habit had helped me a lot in acheiving physically and mentally.
While on the other hand, many people deny to change while they get older. As they would preffer the way they are, and not willing to change. They are comfortable with thier old habits and opinions. However, they might face more difficulty by not adapting to change. Pupils who do not change by time might not be as sucessfull as people who adapt the change.
In conclusion, I believe that change is necessary for each individual which will help them grow, learn and to be sucessfull in life. So, I think it is a good sign that people should change thier habits and their opinion as they get older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that people change as they age and consider this beneficial. You address both changing habits and opinions, and the example of beginning regular exercise after moving to Canada gives relevant personal support. However, the discussion of changing opinions is less developed than the discussion of habits, and the opposing view is only briefly explained: you say people may be comfortable with old habits and become less successful, but do not give a specific reason or example. To strengthen the response, explain how experience can alter a particular opinion and develop the counterpoint before showing why you still agree.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The exercise example is placed appropriately within the paragraph about positive change, and linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. “On one hand” is not balanced by a clear “on the other hand” structure, and the second body paragraph begins with “While on the other hand,” which makes the relationship between the points awkward. The ideas within the first body paragraph also move quickly from habits to opinions. Use more precise transitions and organise each paragraph around one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including terms such as “adapting,” “physical health,” “improvement” and “overall health.” The personal example is understandable, and you attempt to discuss growth and development using several related expressions. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “change,” “habits” and “opinions,” while some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear: “change is the best requisite to grown,” “more experienced it” and “deny to change.” Spelling errors, including “thier,” “develope” and “sucessfull,” also make the writing less controlled. Build a more precise range of expressions for personal development and changing views, and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “while” and “by which,” and your main meaning is generally understandable. However, complex structures are not consistently controlled. For example, “by adapting to change in thier opinions means they have learned many things” has an unclear grammatical construction, while “people who are adapting the change … are trying to improve his/her life” has problems with the verb pattern and agreement. There are also errors in articles, plurals and verb forms, as in “many thing,” “had helped me” and “people deny to change.” Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses and check that subjects, verbs and pronouns agree throughout.
