Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that people change their thoughts when they get older. People change their habits and opinions when they get older due to responsibilities and need. I totally agree with this statement that people change their habits and opinions.

To begin with, many people change their habits and opinions as they get more responsibilities. To explain it, young people who get older they need to manage their career as well as financial responsibity of family, so they change their habits of living such as they work hard to earn money and work more hours for their personal growth in the future. Additionally, some people who have different opinions on how to live life they changes their opinions as they get older. Some children think that their parents should spend money on travelling or such leisure activities rather than investing for future, however when they get older they think that their parents were doing right thing and at that time they valued their decision. Therefore, when people get older they passes through many stages of life where they change their thoughts.

Besides this, In this world of technology where everyone need to learn how to use technology in their daily routine as this becomes crucial part of life. Many old people who never used technlogy in thir whole life also they were against using smart phones, laptops, computers, however they changed their opionions and they learn how to use it. Moreover, womens who get older they change their habits in many aspects such as their career, handling their child as well as family which are the most important things, so they have to change their routine schedule by their needs. For example, employee who is in IT field they need to change their habit of working, yet they learn AI for their growth in career. As a result, people change their habits and opinions depending on their need.

In conlcusion, most people have to change their way of thinking and it is usaul thing. Although, some people need to change their habits and opinions due to responsibilities some people need to change as per their need in the life. In this world everyone change their lifesyle as it has more benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you “totally agree” that people change their habits and opinions as they age. You address both habits and opinions, and the examples about children later understanding their parents’ financial choices and older people learning to use technology are relevant. The response therefore covers the task well. However, some points are more fully explained than others: the technology example shows a change in opinion, but the reason for that change could be clearer, while the point about women changing routines is broad and not specifically linked to ageing. To strengthen the response further, explain the causes and consequences of each example in more detail and avoid generalisations such as “everyone” changing their lifestyle.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Its ideas generally progress from responsibilities and family decisions to technology and work, and linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” and “As a result” help signal relationships. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences begin with similar connectors, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the move from older people learning technology to women changing their routines feels abrupt, and “Besides this” does not clearly identify what the new point adds. The conclusion also repeats the main claim rather than drawing together the reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “responsibilities,” “financial,” “leisure activities,” and “career.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “change,” “habits,” “opinions,” and “get older.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “financial responsibity of family,” “valued their decision,” and “change their routine schedule by their needs.” Spelling errors—including “technlogy,” “opionions,” and “conlcusion”—also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could describe people as “adapting their routines” or “revising their views” rather than repeatedly saying they change.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “who,” “as,” and “however,” so there is some variety. Nevertheless, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “young people who get older they need,” “they changes their opinions,” and “people get older they passes through.” The sentence beginning “Many old people who never used technology…” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not joined correctly. Work on forming one clear main clause and checking subject–verb agreement, such as “people pass through” and “they change.” More accurate complex sentences, rather than longer sentences with several linked ideas, would improve clarity.
