Student answer (Band 5.5)

As an answer to the question of that ''are the people tend to change their habits and opinions as the get older is'', is ''yes''. I believe people change their habits and opinions as they get older.

Reasons for the above statement can depend on the experience they get throughout their life. Some people could become more wiser with the knowlage as they gain from studying. Some could become to be more kind with the environment they live in. Some could learn how to be rude inorder to survive different social problems. It is all depend with what they experience in their life and how they chose to react and tackle different kinds of problems.

One example is my mother. She was use to be very gentle. Also a person that has not taken much decisions for herself in past. The decisions were always made by her parents or her husband. However as the life moves on, there was a situation that she had to taken the control to herself and she went for a job and started to plan our life and taken much heavy responsibilities to her hand. As her first child, I have seen her in both these situations of her life. I have seen her gradually improving herself academically and mentally. She chose hard paths in order to survive in the society. Then I have an aunt who had the same childhood as my mother, but not gone through extream pressure like my mother. She had very calm lifestyle and did not experienced life changing situations. I have always seen as they get older the way they react to certain situations are completely different. My mother tend to worry about others while my aunt's decisions shows more selfishness. Likewise, people change as the way that life treats you.

It is also important to know that there is always a reason to change in certain way. Most of the time the reason is the experience. As conclusion, according to my perspective it is true to say that people change their habits and their opinions as they get older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that people change their habits and opinions as they age, and you return to this view in the conclusion. The response addresses both habits and opinions, mainly by explaining how life experience can shape behaviour and attitudes. The account of your mother provides relevant personal support, while the comparison with your aunt helps illustrate different responses to life. However, the discussion of how people change their opinions is less explicit than the discussion of behaviour, and some claims—such as people learning to be rude to survive—are asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response further, develop this point and connect each example more directly to both parts of the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph giving reasons, a personal example, and a conclusion. The mother-and-aunt comparison gives the central example a clear focus, and phrases such as “However” and “Likewise” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph lists several possible changes without developing them, and the long example paragraph moves through many details before its main comparison becomes clear. Some linking is repetitive or awkward, including “As conclusion” and repeated references to “life.” Organise the example into a clearer sequence—before, change, and outcome—and use more precise references so readers can follow who or what each sentence describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary to discuss personal development, including “experience,” “responsibilities,” “pressure,” and “survive in the society.” These choices help communicate the general argument, and the contrast between your mother and aunt is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural, such as “more wiser,” “taken much heavy responsibilities,” “extream pressure,” and “know lage.” Some expressions are also vague, for example “certain way” and “different kinds of problems.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more precise terms for changes in attitudes and behaviour. Proofreading spelling and word forms would also make your meaning easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “However” and the comparison between your mother and aunt. The main ideas can generally be understood, but control is inconsistent: several sentences contain faulty verb forms, agreement, or sentence construction. For example, “She was use to be very gentle” and “she had to taken the control” do not use the required verb forms, while “It is all depend” has an incorrect structure. The opening question is also difficult to parse because its word order is unclear. Practise building accurate clauses with consistent tense, especially when narrating past events, and check subject–verb agreement and articles. More reliable sentence patterns will let your ideas come through clearly.
