Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a notion that people usually change their personality traits and their views as they grow older in life. I strongly believe that with varied life experiences and challenges individuals grow more mature and tend to differ in their opinions. This essay will elucidate the major reasons behind such behavior.
To commence with, the major reasons individuals choose to change their habits are because to improve their quality of life and sometimes get influenced by their environment. Many people in cooperate good habits later in their life such as healthy diet, exercise and educate themselves for better quality of life. For instance, someone in their formative age is busy building their career might not get enough time to concentrate on their health, they would choose to change their habits much later in their life. Therefore, it is high possibility for people to realize and make a change in their habits for better growth and development.
On the other hand, people who hold an opinion regarding something at their early age might change it because of life experience. Many people who have strong opinion towards way of living, career and their political views, changes depending on their experiences. For example, someone who started off their career in engineering, and as the years go by, they developed a keen interest in photography and pursue that as career path. people choices and opinion are highly influenced by their life experiences and environment they are exposed. Therefore, it is very much normal for people to change their opinion and ideas as they grow old.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the notion that as individuals grow old, they tend to change their habits and opinion according to their personal benefits and overall development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly believe”) and conclusion, and you address both habits and opinions with relevant reasons and examples. The discussion of habits explains how career demands can delay attention to health, while the career-change example illustrates how experience can alter views. This meets the task well, but the two areas are not developed equally: the habits paragraph gives a clearer cause-and-effect explanation, whereas the opinion paragraph moves quickly from changing views to changing careers without explaining the link in detail. Some claims, such as people changing “for their personal benefits,” also remain broad. To strengthen the response, explain each example more fully and connect it explicitly to how ageing or experience changes a person’s outlook.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on habits and opinions, and a conclusion that restates your position. The sequence within each body paragraph is generally logical, and signposts such as “For instance,” “On the other hand,” and “Therefore” help readers follow the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, with “Therefore” used to close both body paragraphs, and a few references are not fully clear. For example, “they developed a keen interest” follows a sentence about “someone,” but the shift in tense and the connection between career experience and opinion could be made more explicit. Use a wider range of natural transitions and build clearer links between each example and its main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including phrases such as “life experiences,” “formative age,” “quality of life,” and “political views.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “elucidate” and “notion,” though some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural: “in cooperate good habits,” “high possibility,” and “people choices” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. Repetition of “change,” “life,” and “opinion” also limits flexibility. Aim for precise collocations and vary key terms—for example, use “adopt healthy habits,” “a strong likelihood,” and “viewpoints” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional-style example (“someone … might not get enough time”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “as.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and reduce accuracy. For example, “people … changes” has subject–verb disagreement, and “they developed … and pursue” shifts verb form within the same sentence. The opening of the habits paragraph, “the major reasons … are because,” is also structurally awkward, while “someone … they” creates inconsistent pronoun reference. Capitalisation after a full stop is missed in “people choices.” Review agreement, consistent verb forms, and sentence construction, then proofread punctuation and capital letters.
