Student answer (Band 5.0)

People have different atitudes towards age as they get older. It is very difficult stepping out from their comfort zone.

People prefer similar experiences as thay have observed from their previous generations. As the age advances the sense of responsibilites increase ,some loose their interests and become busy in meeting requirements of their family. There are a very few of them who keep their interests and hobbies alive. As far as opinions are concerned, they have experienced various things and with the passing time opinions change after experinecing.

As they get older, their busy routine suddenly change. Some people retire from their job. They find it hard to sit free at home doing nothing. They now have time to visit their nearby park make friends and join various clubs.

On the other hand, some people keep their habbits. They enjoy doing new experiments. In my opinion , age is just a number. People should not make their lives boring. Every rea of life has its charm. Children have no sense of responsibility. They enjoy their life with no worries at all. In young age the main purpose of life is to earn money and give their family a prosperous life. in old age , responsibility is shared by their young ones.

Teachers have strict routine during their job era. After retirement they fing other hobbies like gardening. So opinions and habbits keep on changing with developemnt of tachnology and advancing age. People should keep pace with advanced technology and uograde their habbits and opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both habits and opinions, and your position becomes clearer in “age is just a number” and the recommendation to keep pace with technology. The examples about retirees joining clubs and teachers taking up gardening are relevant and help illustrate how routines can change. However, the response only partly answers whether such changes are very common: it also says some people keep their habits, without clearly weighing these contrasting points or stating how strongly you agree. Several claims, such as young people focusing on earning money and older people sharing responsibility, are asserted rather than explained. Develop a consistent position and support each main reason with a specific example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some paragraphing and a broadly recognisable movement from general observations to retirement examples and a concluding recommendation. Connectors such as “On the other hand” signal contrast, and the examples give the reader some direction. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the opening moves between habits, responsibilities and opinions, while the later discussion shifts from retirement to children, young adults and teachers without a clear organising sequence. Some links are mechanical or unclear, and the final sentence introduces technology without developing its connection to the earlier examples. Group related points into focused paragraphs and use clear topic sentences and references to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “comfort zone,” “responsibility,” “retire,” “hobbies” and “advanced technology.” These choices allow you to discuss changes in routine and interests. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “people,” “age,” “hobbies” and “opinions.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “atitudes,” “habbits,” “experinecing” and “fing,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the message. Some expressions are unnatural, for example “sit free at home” and “job era.” Build a wider set of precise phrases for describing changing routines and beliefs, and proofread spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including the clause “As the age advances…” and the contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but the range of structures is limited and errors occur frequently enough to interrupt smooth reading. For example, “their busy routine suddenly change” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “There are a very few of them” uses an awkward construction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “increase ,some loose,” and capitalisation is missing at the start of “in old age.” Practise accurate agreement, articles and sentence punctuation, then combine ideas using controlled subordinate clauses.
