Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is common for individuals to modify their habits and views as they grow older. I completely agree with this view because life experiences can change people's perspectives, while changeing responsibilities and priorities often influence their daily routines and behaviour.
One major reason people change their opinions as they age is that their gain more life experiences. As individuals grow older, they encounter different situations, interact with people from diverse backgrounds, and learn from their mistakes. These experiences can challenge their beliefs and help them develop a more mature understanding of life. For example, a young person may belief that academic qualifications are the only path to success. However, after gaining work experiences, they may realise that practical skills and networking are also important. Therefore, their opinions may change as they become more knowledgeable and exposed to different perspectives.
Additionally, growing older brings new responsibilities and prioritiesthat infleuences people's habits. Individuals may have fewer responsibilities when they are young, but adulthood often involves employment, family commitments and financial obligations. Consequently, they may adopt healthier routine, become more financially disciplined or reduce the time they spend on entertainment. For instance, a young adult who previously spent most evenings socialising with friends may begin to prioritise saving money, exercising regularly and spending time with family after starting a full-time job or having children.
In conclusion, I completely agree that people commonly change their habits and opinions as they grow older. This is because as they experience life, it will reshape their perspectives and also their increase responsibilities can infleunce their daily routines.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both habits and opinions, giving a distinct reason for each: life experience can reshape beliefs, while adult responsibilities can alter routines. The examples about career success and a young adult changing priorities after starting work or having children make the points relevant and support the argument. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended through explanation and illustration. To develop the discussion further, make the examples more specific or show more clearly how the changes occur over time; some claims, such as people adopting healthier routines, are asserted rather than explained. Overall, the response addresses the task clearly and supports its position effectively, though some points remain general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate reasons, and the conclusion restates the position. The progression from changing opinions to changing habits is logical, and signposts such as “One major reason,” “Additionally,” and “For example” help readers follow the argument. The examples are placed appropriately after the explanations they support. To make the flow more polished, reduce reliance on explicit linking phrases and strengthen connections between some sentences. The conclusion’s repeated “because” construction is awkward and makes the final summary less smooth. Overall, organisation is clear throughout and cohesion is used flexibly, with a few places where linking feels mechanical or the phrasing interrupts the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “diverse backgrounds,” “practical skills,” “financial obligations,” and “prioritise,” which help express the main ideas. There are also attempts at more precise phrasing, such as “a mature understanding of life.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “changeing,” “infleuences,” and “belief” where “believe” is needed. Some collocations and forms are also awkward, including “work experiences” and “healthier routine.” The intended meaning remains clear, but these slips limit the precision and control of the vocabulary. Proofread spelling and check whether nouns, verbs, and common word combinations fit the context; this would make your otherwise relevant vocabulary more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because life experiences can change people’s perspectives” and “after gaining work experiences, they may realise…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the argument remains easy to follow. Some grammatical errors are present, however. In “their gain more life experiences,” the subject is incomplete; “priorities that infleuences” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “adopt healthier routine” needs a plural noun or an article. The final sentence, “as they experience life, it will reshape their perspectives,” also has an unclear pronoun reference and awkward clause structure. Greater accuracy in agreement, articles, and sentence construction would build on the range already shown.
