Student answer (Band 5.0)
People get changed when they are getting older because of the experience that have seen so far , however there habits and there opinions changes, in this essay it will be discussed.
I believe people change their opinions and habits in old age for several reasons. Firstly, as people grow older, they gain more life experience, which can change the way they think and see the world. Secondly, health problems may force them to change their daily habits, such as their diet and exercise routines. Finally, retirement gives older people more time to reflect on their lives and focus on what truly matters to them, such as family, happiness, and peace of mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your position is clear in the main paragraph: you agree that people’s opinions and habits change as they age, and you give relevant reasons involving experience, health, and retirement. However, the response addresses the task only minimally because these points are listed rather than explained or supported with examples. The opening sentence is also unclear about your position, and the essay ends without a conclusion. The response is substantially below the required minimum length, so there is not enough development to fully answer the question. To strengthen it, explain how each reason leads to a change and add a specific example, then restate your view in a concluding paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an opening, a paragraph presenting your view, and a sequence of reasons. Words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Finally” make the order of those reasons easy to follow. However, the opening is difficult to understand, and the essay stops after the final reason, so the progression feels incomplete. The ideas are not developed into separate, clearly organised paragraphs, and the linking is mostly limited to a mechanical list of points. For clearer cohesion, use a brief introduction that states your position, give each main reason its own supporting explanation or example, and finish with a conclusion that refers back to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “life experience,” “health problems,” “daily habits,” “retirement,” and “peace of mind.” These phrases help communicate the main reasons for change. However, the range is limited, and some wording is inaccurate or awkward, such as “the experience that have seen so far” and “in old age,” which does not precisely express the broader idea of getting older. There are also basic errors in “there habits” and “there opinions.” Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, you could describe how experience “shapes a person’s outlook” or how health concerns “prompt changes to a routine.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both a longer opening sentence and more controlled sentences in the main paragraph, including the complex clause “as people grow older, they gain more life experience, which can change the way they think.” This shows some ability to use subordinate clauses. However, errors in the opening make the meaning difficult to follow: “the experience that have seen so far” lacks a clear subject and has incorrect verb agreement, while “there habits and there opinions changes” has errors in possessive forms and subject–verb agreement. The opening also has awkward sentence boundaries and punctuation. Most of the later sentences are clearer, but the range remains limited. Practise accurate agreement and possessive forms, and build longer sentences around one clear main clause.
