It is very common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older.

Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been quite normal for individuals to alter their habits and thoughts as they get older. I strongly agree with this statement because people lose their body strength in their old age and they learn more life experience.
To commence, people's habits often change because their priorities and lifestyle change. When people get older, they are not able to spend a huge amount of time in playing video games and doing outdoors activities because they start losing their body energy and strength. For example, in older age, people usually need to do some physical exercises to maintain their body fit, so they have to leave their old habits which they normally do in their young age.
Secondly, people's opinions change as they gain more knowledge and life experience. When people are young, they are normally infulenced by their parents, teachers, and friends because their mind is not fully developed. However, as people get older, they meet people form different backgrounds and face very diffcult challenges in their life, which teachs them the real experience of life. As a result, this brings changes in people's opinions. For example, in Canada, although young people think that they can maintain a good life by earning high income, older people believe that physical exercise and developing good relationships with others are important.
In conclusion, I completely agree with this statement because time teaches people more knowledge and experience of daily lifestyle so people gain useful knowledge and change their habits and thoughts as they get older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both habits and opinions, giving a relevant explanation for each: changing energy and priorities can affect activities, while experience can reshape beliefs. The examples about exercise and the contrast between younger and older people in Canada help support these points. This is a solid response because the main ideas are extended and supported, although some claims are broad—for instance, that older people “have to leave their old habits” or that young people generally prioritise high income. To strengthen the response further, qualify these generalisations and explain more precisely how age-related changes lead to different habits or opinions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from changing habits to changing opinions is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To commence,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation explicit. Examples are placed alongside the points they illustrate. To make the flow more natural, rely less on formulaic transitions and use clearer links between cause and result. For example, the final sentence of the second body paragraph could explain directly how the Canadian example demonstrates the effect of experience, rather than simply saying, “As a result, this brings changes.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including relevant terms such as “priorities,” “lifestyle,” “backgrounds,” and “relationships.” However, the range and precision are uneven, and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors limit the naturalness of the writing. Examples include “infulenced,” “form,” “diffcult,” and “teachs,” as well as awkward combinations such as “maintain their body fit” and “learn more life experience.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “people,” “older,” and “experience.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases. More precise alternatives would help you express the same ideas without relying on broad or unnatural wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “because,” “When,” and “although.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the overall argument remains easy to understand. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, prepositions, and sentence construction. For example, “in playing video games” would be more naturally formed as “playing video games,” while “in older age” needs a more suitable article or phrasing. In “people usually need to do some physical exercises to maintain their body fit,” the structure after “maintain” is not grammatical. Continue practising accurate verb patterns and article use, while retaining the complex sentence forms you already attempt.
