Student answer (Band 6.5)

As people grow older, their daily habits and personal opinions change over the time. I strongly agree with this view because a great exposure to social life may shape their opinions and views. Moreover, they acquire healthy habits due to the changes in their routine and schedules.

Children grow up in a very limited circle. They mostly interact with their classmates, friends and parents which may not expose them to a wide range of experiences. However, adults and old people socialise with different personalities such as colleagues, relatives and certain professionals. They go to the workplaces and attend several social events. This gives them an opportunity to exchange their ideas and opinions with each other which ultimately shapes their personal views for different situations.

Furthermore, people's habits also change when they get older. Owing to the changes in their routine, they often follow healthy habits. They become health conscious as they get older becaue they need to perform certain duties. For instance, several working professionals start eating nutritious food to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Whereas kids usually eat unhealthy fast-food because of the lack of knowledge about healthy food. Aditionally, sleeping habits also change over time. While teenagers often stay up late for watching series and movies, adults and old age people usually go to bed on time. This may be because of their demanding schedule and responsibilties.

In conclusion, I largely believe that grwoing older can change people's habits and opinions significantly due to a wide range of experiences, exposure and their demanding schedules or responsibilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the opening—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both habits and opinions, giving relevant explanations: wider social contact can shape adults’ views, while changing routines and responsibilities can influence eating and sleeping habits. The examples about working professionals and teenagers make the discussion more concrete. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended and supported. To strengthen it further, develop the opinions point with a specific example of how an experience changes someone’s view, rather than relying mainly on the general claim that social interaction shapes opinions. Some claims, such as children having a “very limited circle,” are broad and would benefit from qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised clearly: the introduction states your view, each body paragraph develops one main aspect, and the conclusion restates your position. Progression within the paragraphs is also easy to follow, with examples placed after the relevant explanations. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. There is some tendency to rely on explicit connectors, however, and “Whereas” begins a sentence fragment-like contrast rather than being smoothly integrated with the preceding point. You could improve cohesion by varying how ideas are linked and using clearer references between sentences, so the connections feel less formulaic while preserving this effective overall structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “socialise,” “exchange their ideas,” “health conscious,” “nutritious,” and “demanding schedule.” These choices communicate the main points clearly, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several collocations or word choices are imprecise, such as “a great exposure to social life,” “over the time,” and “old age people.” Spelling slips in “becaue,” “Aditionally,” “responsibilties,” and “grwoing” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, “greater exposure to different social settings” is more idiomatic. The vocabulary is sufficient, but greater precision and control would make the argument sound more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including relative clauses (“which may not expose them…”) and time contrasts with “While.” Most sentences are understandable, and errors rarely obstruct the message. Some grammatical control is still inconsistent. For example, “over the time” needs a more natural article pattern, and “While teenagers often stay up late for watching…” has an awkward verb construction; use “stay up late to watch” or “for watching.” “Whereas kids usually eat…” is not well connected as a standalone sentence, and “due to the changes in their routine” would be clearer with a more precise singular or plural reference. Continue practising complex sentence links and proofreading sentence boundaries to make the range more consistently accurate.
